Mdude - so next, you'll be telling us you are no electrician ? ;) Nice clean wiring, very well loomed

I'm often seriously guilty of over-thinking approaches..... always good to get 'er done.

Daug - my cure for tie-wraps left in place is to use a really good pair of small flush-cutting pliers to trim the tail exactly flush. Went that route after tearing chunks out of my hands going back into something to work on it later, after cutting the tie-wraps less carefully - not life-threatening cuts, but until you've done that once, it's hard to believe what a nasty, ragged scrape you can get from just a very tiny piece of plastic.

Rgds, D.

Really impressive. The Oliver 500 series was / is the best of class for tractors of its day, IMHO.

Well for the life of me I just cannot get these glass fuel bowls to stop leaking. So I just went to Ace Hardware and got me a riding lawnmower plastic filter, brass shutoff valve and some fuel line. This is just temporary, I will go to my local speed shop and do it right with Steel line and AN fittings along with a good filter. I'll stick with this for a while though.

These guys are junk even when purchased new :(

I'm sandblasting the wheels today, and I'll get some cheap tires mounted. Anything wrong with going with a small BFG All-Terrain? I might be able to find a used pair at the tire shop to get me rolling.

Have similar and only the cork works to keep sealed...

The rubber gasket doesn't.

Yep, cork gasket.

Yep, cork gasket.

I had a Perko water strainer on my boat that was way easier to use and seal with a cork gasket
versus the rubber alternative. I always thought of the sap coming out of a tree to make these gaskets.
Now what, synthetic cork?

Definitely an old style fuel filter. Today's injections systems would blow up from the stuff this old filter allowed through.
But back then engines didn't seem as fussy. Micron? What's a micron...
If that small fuel filter will pass enough fuel to not starve the engine at full throttle, then it looks like a much better solution.
I stock a variety of small filters in my barn, always have to be careful of those that work with just gravity and those that require fuel pump pressure to move the fuel through the filtration.
The OP definitely wants the latter. I try to put the biggest filter in there that will fit and work with that size ID hose.

I can't wait to see/hear this thing fire up.

The good thing about the old sediment bowl type was they allowed the water to dropout, some times that style can be overtightened and then leak.
I didn't see it in the picture but do you have a shutoff in the feed line, especially with the gas line and filter right above the starter?

Okay, yes it seems that I do have a rubber gasket for that sediment bowl. I will go to tractor supply and get the cork gaskets they have there. I would prefer to use the glass sediment bowl, but am now leery about them since it leaked fuel over my fresh paint and made it bubble. LOL. oh well, its an old tractor, i'm leavin it. lol.

Yes, I do have a shut off valve right on the outlet of the tank. I know that filter isn't in the best place, maybe I'll fix it. LOL

I'm working on the wheel bearings, they are soaking in kerosene and I will repack them with some Mystic JT6.

I also drained the 5 gallons of gear oil from the trans/axle which was of course milky, and I ran it with no load with kerosene as the service manual states. I made quick stands out of wood. Hey it's all I had.
