And another one!. This time it's the President of the Ontario progressive conservative party. Just saw it on the news.

Here's my chip, I work in a very technical field and I've heard female and only employees say, "I'm not technical", when talking about their projects. Straight out admit they can't follow the discussion about their particular field. I've never heard a male employee say it, but in all fairness, i've known some male co-workers, that should just go ahead and admit they can't keep up with either, but are probably afraid they may get demoted or fired.Guess it is chip on my shoulder... take away the title but still have the responsibilities which is in direct opposition to the company handbook...
I think it's about time MEN started a campaign to get equal rights for men.
Spot on goe.
Not new, as I recall Reverse Discrimination coming up in HS Sociology, decades ago, What I hadn't realized is how blatantly it had been applied. The wiki link has some references to US court cases concerning college admissions.
Reverse discrimination - Wikipedia
It's just another form of discrimination. While I'm definitely no legal scholar, it does have me scratching my head about legality.
The Ends Justifies Means is one way to sum up how this has been sold, post 1970.
What I do find "interesting" (read disturbing) is that wiki article concludes that since the incidence of reporting is allegedly low, then Reverse Discrimination rarely happens. If we used that same logic, then there would be no #MeToo now.
Went to see if Discrimination had been "updated" since I last undertood the def'n:
Discrimination | Define Discrimination at Dictionary.com
"treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit:
racial and religious intolerance and discrimination."
Reverse or not, sure smells like discrimination to me.....

I know that feeling of having to rearrange your schedule because of a Mom, single or otherwise. Now if it wasn't that the majority of "Mothering" was performed by women, then we be having a different discussion using different gender specific pronouns. However I'm guilty of saying something like, 'aren't your children old enough able to care for them self yet, i mean what the heck they're 21', and receiving a busted look from that person.A well placed Cdn Gov't official once explained the staffing system to me.
Most departments have a staff quota of sorts.
His department was traditionally male.
Hiring a female gave him a 1/2 credit as did a handicapped person.
Also in some cases also did hiring an aboriginal.
Being in Canada bilingualism also counted.
So if in order to complete a 6 staff department he hired a handicapped female he would then grow his staff from not 5-6 but take it to 7.
Well he hired a bilingual female in a male dominated area.
She got pregnant, took parental leave, worked only 4 days/wk (single parent) and played **** with the system.
No longer could staff meetings be held on Fridays and so his staff had to travel back for Thursday meetings thus completely disorganizing everybody's schedules.
The staff were aviation inspectors that by definition had to travel extensively to do site inspections.
Gotta say that all the males in that department sure felt discriminated.
