I wish I had clearance for something like that on my L6060. I'm always getting stuck when plowing. There isn't much clearance between the frame and FEL when lowered so it's tough to find a spot to put a winch. I thought about making a 3 pt winch mount but I usually have the blower or sand spreader on the back in winter.

I considered making an easily removable winch bracket that would fit between the FEL arms on the cross tube. That way I could power the hydraulic winch via the 3rd function valve and install it only when needed. I'm afraid pulling too hard with it could damage the FEL though.

Yeah mounting on the FEL cross tube might work however be very careful and never ever pull it's side ways. It might bend the FEL arms. Have you considered a electric or small hydraulic winch? I mean, mine is way overbuilt since it's homemade and it has way more power than I need.

Noted in an earlier post, when mounting a winch at the front bumper, on a tractor without a full chasis frame, serious potertial exists to stress motor attachment points. A winch attached to SSQA plate, pulling directly in line with the tractor position appears more prudent than a cross lateral stress position. Additionally, your reluctance in attaching to the loader cross tube seems wise. Front loader stress points are designed to equally divide between both loader arms, not a single point on the tube. Certainly the rating of the winch, coupled with the resistane of the object being pulled is the major consideration. What implement is attached to the loader when plowing?

The one you built would definitely be overkill for my purposes. Compact tractor electrical systems aren't really designed for heavy loads and I'd be concerned about a dead battery with an electric winch. I was considering a lighter hyd. unit such as:

It only weighs 40 lbs. and would be easily removable. I would mount the fairlead on the frame below the winch to avoid any side load on the FEL arms.

I have a LandPride 1596 SSQA plow on the FEL of the L6060. I plow 1.25 miles of very steep private road with a high crown and deep drainage ditches on either side. Even with chains, I occasionally get stuck. When conditions are really bad, I'll leave the BH92 hoe on to crab my way out of a jam. Unfortunately, I can't use the snow blower or cinder spreader with the hoe on. The road is tree lined so it would be easy to pull myself out with a winch.

If I were to mount the winch on the FEL cross tube, I would bolt the fairlead to the tractor frame. That way, the winch would only pull upward, eliminating any side load on the FEL arms.

This is just one idea I've been working on and may never build it.

I mounted a hydraulic 8000lb winch in my loader. It works great. I use it more than you can imagine. Anytime you pick something with a chain on the loader it either too short or long. Having that winchline up front is great. When moving brush I lay it out on the ground and make a pile, bring the line back to the tractor, suck it up and lift you get it all. Also it it is piled already I take some line over the pile, roll the pile over the line, hook the end and winch it up. I have pulled many others out of situations that were buried. putting the loader in the ground for a deadman and putting a block on the stuck unit to double the power, I have never failed to pull them out. Only once have I had to use it for pulling myself out. I was on a side hill mowing and slid into the fence. I tied to a tree, lifted the loader up and pulled till it started to lift the downhill side and slowly rolled away like a pendulum off the tree, no damage to the fence. I mounted mine below the crossbar and above the bucket so the line wouldn't burn on the top of the bucket. I did put a clevis on the bucket to attach a pulley to be able to pull sideways just in case.

I also have a hyd winch for the rear. I built a frame and for the top link I made a boom that rides on top the winch and sticks out a couple feet. I can hang a pulley or tongs on it. When lowered it goes close to the ground and lifted it is several ft high as it pivots off the top of the frame.

For my smaller 2610 I put a 10,000lb electric on it as I had one laying in the shop. On both the hyd and electric I put a 2 inch receiver. Is very handy for moving trailers and for winching things on the trailer. When the tractor is not in use with mowers, tillers and such I put the winch on. Keeps the arms off the tires.

I'm glad someone has tried this successfully. I'll search for your pic. I'm going to have to seriously consider a winch again since I've already been stuck once this winter season. I managed to pull myself out with a rope and pulley. I hooked the pulley to the tractor frame below the FEL bucket, tied one end of the rope around the bucket, ran it through the pulley and tied it off to a tree. I was able to pull myself out 6 feet at a time by raising the bucket, lowering it, taking up the slack and raising it again. Slow and a lot of work but it did the trick.

If there is room to mount a winch to your tractor using the loader frame I would certainly think about it, or as has been mentioned a 2" receiver mounted on the front and possibly on the rear of the blower and then either a hydraulic or electric winch. When pulling from the front if the front wheels are turned in the direction of pull I would not worry about the strain on the tractor it's no more then you would have if someone was pulling you out. It's not like you are bellied out in mud with an implement buried behind you, with the tractor helping to move you will not be pulling that hard. As far as an electric winch the larger ones are going to be pulling upwards to 400 amps and more no alternator is going to cover that, but if your battery is good and your tractor is running you will get a good pull off a winch before the battery gets to low to pull then while the winch motor is cooling the battery is getting charged for another pull.
