My first post here, may be a bit long-winded so bear with me please.

I have acquired the Massey Ferguson GC1705 last fall (it sort of came with the house that we moved in to), along with some implements.
Nice little tractor, I like it.
But as everybody here knows, once you have a tractor you absolutely NEED implements and new projects start to pop up in your mind that you could to with the tractor (that you couldn't do without) ONLY if you had a particular attachment and/or implement.
Sounds familiar?

As it (the tractor) came with the DL95 FEL, I started thinking (and researching) what else, other than the bucket, I can get/attach to it.
And there is a LOT of stuff out there....

But what I was finding was that most implements are overbuilt for these little tractors and therefore quite heavy.
This is as small tractor as one can get (not counting lawn/garden tractors) and it does not have any extra spare capacity.

First thing I tried to find was a quick attach, but as I said above, what I was finding was heavy (weighting 10% of the FEL lift capacity or more) and expensive.
As I could not find anything that I was happy with, I decided to design my own.
I also contacted a local fabrication company that builds sheet metal and weldment assemblies (I use their services for work related projects so I know their fabrication capabilities and quality) to get me a quote for individual parts as well as complete welded/painted assembly.

I thought that there could be interest in the small tractor community for such product, especially here in Canada where the selection of small tractor attachments is smaller than down in the US.
Attached is a CAD rendering of the quick attachment, it weighs approx. 30 pounds.

I did also a quick basic FEA and it is plenty strong for the lifting capacity and break-out force of the DL95.

As you can see from the attached pdf, I am also working on the lightweight fork carrier attachment (and the grapple, not shown).
Also in the works is a set of conversion brackets that can be welded to an implement of your choice to make it work with the quick attach.

So please let me know if anyone would be interested or if you have any questions/comments.

Cheers,
Roman

That looks really neat and very sellable. Make an extra just in case someone else wants one.

Very nice. I'd be interested in the final product.

I've sold a few of these universal quick attach adapters for Massey DL95 loaders.
At $650 shipped within 1,000 miles, they're not cheap, but they do make life much easier.
At 73 pounds, the weight is fairly manageable.

Roman,

You had a good idea, but you could have saved alot of time if you had searched the Tractorbynet site more.

Already back in late summer and early fall of 2015 I started talking about the q. A. For the dl100 and dl95 fel units that fit the gc23xx,gc24xx, gc26xx, and gc17xx series. In addition there are 4 or 5 different grapples, 3 bucket's, 2 fork sets, a 3pt. Quick hitch etc etc all by the same vendor and all designed to be very weight conscious but high strength.

Quite a number of Massey GC owners have them at this point. They are a tremendous addition to the GC products and are quick and cable and some of the items are patented.

It makes sense to use quick attach system, if you want to change it a lot, and or, your bucket, or attachment is heavy.

On a GC, it's also not really that much trouble to change the bucket the old fashioned way.

I do mine twice a year, to switch from the bucket to the plow.

It takes less than ten minutes to remove one, and install the other.

I can't see investing the time, or money in a QA for my use.

Hi AxleHub,

Thanks for the reply.
Would you mind posting a link to Q.A and implements that you are referring to?

As I said above, I did my homework and searched for what is already available, including here at TBN .
The quick attach mentioned in your post from 2015 weights about 75 pounds, that's almost 10% of the DL95 lifting capacity.

And as I also said, I did not like what I found, it was heavy and overbuilt.
On top of it, most of those attachments are sold down south, I am in Canada and with the exchange rate, shipping, duties and brokerage fees, those attachments are simply to heavy and too expensive.

Considering all the above (price, weight, availability in Canada) lead me to design my own, optimized for GC1700 series limited capabilities.

Cheers,
Roman

ray66V,

I fully agree with you, it is individual preference whether to get a QA or not.
If you have only two implements and switch them twice a year, what's the point.

But if you have multiple implements for the FEL and you switch them few times a day while working on a project (and on uneven terrain, i.e. in a bush) then QA may be handy addition.

I have a GC2610 and wish the loader had more capacity. I'm not happy with the thought if losing some of it if it is noticeable. Do you have any information of the loss of leverage that your attachments have? I fabricated my own oversize bucket for snow removal with a home designed quick attach that does not weigh much and has the same leverage. It take less than five minutes to change from this bucket to a bracket I fabricated to attach a jib pole for loading and unloading my snowmobile. I have not yet modified the original bucket to fit this quick attach as I'd like to make sure there isn't a better system first.

axlehub is referring to this MASSEY TACH-N-GO

I have there QA and forks. Very nice setup. the fork also attach to the three point which i have used on a few occasions. The site looks a little cheap but the guy is nice and the quality is second to none

they are out of wisconsin
