I have noticed that seemingly every bolt you remove gets replaced with new grade 8 stuff. Then i noticed the new lug bolts and half were grade 2 and half grade 8. Great project.
LOL. Thanks. It's easier to just replace the bolts rather than cleaning them.
On the lug bolts, I went to NAPA, they only had 5 in stock which had the 6 marks on the head (grade 8). They ordered the rest (same part number) to come in the next day and they had no markings on them...I would have liked them all to match, it bugged me. But now I don't think about it.
I'm working on the power steering now...I either need to have the rams rebuilt which is very expensive because they are a sealed unit, they'd have to be cut open, then rewelded. And also the steering ram mount itself where the ball joint goes through, is wallowed out...I need to find someone to drill the ball joint holes out to 53/64 so I can insert a new tapered bushing...My local shop wants $125 to drill the 2 holes, but I understand setup time...
I really don't want to try to drill them by hand, a 7/8" drill bit going through 1/2" steel, I probably would not get great results.
