New BX FEL Buckets Bowed - Heads Up

I use my BX for quite a bit finish grading work and having it come warped with a bow in the cutting edge is a concern and I am surprised that Kubota is letting it happen.

I kinked the edge on my L3130 from an incident and did have to get another bucket for the grading work and the tweaked bucket got the grapple put on it for burn pile and cleanup work.

If you use the loader to dig, it will be bowed. If you use it to push trees over, it will get bowed.

If you want to straighten it, put a 6x6 on the back of your trailer, set your bowed bucket on it, toss chain over the bucket and use a ratchet chain binder to force the bucket down and now the edge up in the center. Play with it until it's about straight. But it will just bow again if you use it. Unless you just move mulch, your light duty bucket is in fact going to bow.

It was my Kubota dealer who was concerned and insisted on bringing the tractor back to their shop. I thought it was the bolt on cutting edge that was bent, we agreed I would take a straight one home and I would swap. When we went back into the shop to get one the mechanic noticed the bowed bucket on another tractor they were assembling, that's when HE became concerned, the guy was like ******* that's really bowed. lol

I remember your avatar from awhile ago...didn't you have a 2620 or 2920 TLB? Downsizing?

Yea... That is why I'm not in a job that has to deal with people like that. I have little tolerance for insanity. I work with pipe welds and steam. Not much insanity there. Just me and my instruments. Find a 60" piece of thin plate that has a weld running the entire length that is not bowed from the weld heat. I'll wait here while you search. It is an insane request to expect the steel to magically stay straight and true after being welded as such.

I had a welder replace my 60" bucket cutting edge.
It was "skip welded", and it is PERFECTLY straight.
The guy is a welding foreman/fabrication inspector at a Canadian ship yard.

Not for nearly $15,000. My B2920 bucket was still flat after several hundred hours of landscaping, pushing trees over, I bet I cleared over 20 trees with that tractor, moved truck loads of soil, lifted/moved heavy machines I worked it but did not abuse it.

I'm amazed that the HD bolt-on cutting edge follows the thin bucket when bolted up. I would think the bucket would confirm to the thick cutting edge. Having 3 B's and 2 BX's with the same issue, I'm betting it IS the BUCKET.

On edit, the HD edge merely attaches to the standard cutting edge already on the bucket. That explains it.

I know, that's how bowed the bucket is. Its hard to see but that bolt on cutting edge is much thicker than the welded on cutting edge, its near 3/8 inch thick. If I removed that cutting edge my guess is the bow would increase substantially.

You see the back/bottom of the bucket, with the two bends welded solid with the side panels, rigid right yet we saw some buckets in the dealer yard yesterday viewed from the back where the bucket was bowed even back there its not just the cutting edge in the front.

I've never been in a garage with a floor level enough to even see that, LOL.
