Pulled this old Oliver out of the field...

I go through a rotational disperse and then re-accumulate series for which there seems to be no escape. Deals just keep appearing and resistance is futile.

I can seeing buying more of the 19-385 711 series Ford One Arm Loaders so we can just hook to the one with the right shape bucket, blade or boom pole attachments vs changing out attachments.

When we get a larger trailer I will need to find an antique tractor show with a still working class.

So some fantastic news...I found the original swinging drawbar this tractor came with! It was outside kinda where the tractor was left all these years under some old implements. An oringinal drawbar for an Oliver 550 I have found are very uncommon and expensive when ya do find them!

Excellent find.

Even with a full fab shop at hand, I'd expect that grade of vintage metal would be spendy to replace.

I have an old IR from the mid eighties. 3 phase power, 2 stage pump, 80 gallon tank. Puts off massive CFM. The blast cabinet is an older unit of the same vintage, don't know which brand, but it is big! It also has its own standing dust collector, also runs off 3 phase.

That's a full size beer keg in there.

That drawbar is a rare find and clean like that is quite a view.

Just my opinion but it would be nice if you cut that weld off that holds the "hanmmerstrap" on, cleaned it up and then bolted it on. There will be more times you will want it off than on. Certain implements won't hook up correctly with it on and if they do you'll need an XXXL hitch pin that you won't have.

I agree with what you are saying but if you look at the third picture of the hitch there are no holes to bolt the hammer strap on with. Since this is a rare item...

I would bet that the hammer strap was added on at some point.

None of the pictures of Oliver 550 drawbars have it.

If it were me, I’d mark and drill 2 holes and then grind off welds.

That's right; it never had one and you'll never need one. Cut it off, grind the edges smooth and call it good.

A hammerstrap is used mostly on tillage tools that pulse to and fro (hunt) and pound the cr@p out of a drawbar by elongating the hole. A hammertrap slows this action way down. Save it, just in case.

When you bolt the drawbar bracket back on, I would use grade 8 bolts and lock washers with a drop of blue locktite. Sometimes brackets loosen up and you don't want a casting break.
