The problem with the sheep is that they're nervous and the electric fence in a lot of places is just two or three wires. This works when the animals are trained to it and its kept hot, but not with untrained, heavily insulated by wool sheep.
The building is the open-on-the-two-long-sides barn on the neighboring property, so I don't know the exact history there. The present owner holds it as an investment and lets me use the barn and land. I would suppose at least since the 1950's, but it is quite possibly older and the wood making it almost certainly is. Looking around on the timbers used in any of the barns or houses here from that time, you'll find notches for joints from when it was used in a different structure.
I should sometime ask my in-laws how old our barns are. I know the house we live in is from the 50s, and the house of my wife's grandparents is pre WWII.
