LOL found that telephone pole buried in honey suckle vines that day laying up against that hay barn in the background. Was able to work it out with the forks and found the balance point and just had to stop and take a picture of it. 40 foot pole. Not even sure how much it weights but had no trouble picking it up. Moving it was a matter of slow balanced precision though.
I’ve got to think it was darn near capacity. I assume it’s Doug Fir and around 12” diameter. At 40’ long it would be around 1500lbs!! Very impressive!

They also use southern yellow pine for utility poles and since he’s from South Carolina, where that species grows like a weed, I’d put my money on that...your weight estimates are right on though

It probably is. The FEL didn't hesitate to do it. Finding the balance point took a few tries of course. And once its rolled back to the back its nearer your pivot pins so the capacity goes up a bit. Im thinking the capacity is around 1000 pounds with this fork on. Just guessing. Pine would be a good guess as well. The pole is probably bigger than 12" diameter on the big end but it tapers all the way and probably is more like 8" on the small end. Im certain its near capacity if not a bit over for sure. But yesterday I pulled a Chevy 2500 crew cab out with the tractor. Didn't even hesitate. Slow and easy in low gear... no issues. Did it with ease.
