56° and cloudy this morning, dropping through the day to 30° tonight. Wind is supposed to be rather substantial today as well, 35-40mph.

Woke last night to the sound of thunder. Actually, about 3am. Oh well, I was going to get up at 4:30 anyway.

Wife found a chicken coup she likes at Tractor Supply. It's $449 at one of the local stores. Curiously, though, she can order it online for $399 and have it delivered to the store. She's going to drop in there today and ask what's up with that. After much discussion last night, we decided on getting four Buff Orpingtons to start our chicken flock.

Still undecided on the pasture's future occupants. We go back and forth over cows vs goats. Goats had been the talk for awhile, but it seems to be swinging back to cows now. No hurry on that, though, as we still have to completely redo the fence line out there. That likely won't happen until next year.

I guess I shouldn't be trying to read Russian. I only partially understood what they wrote. There was a dealer in Slovakia, and now they've quit, and according to a new EU regulation they can't sell tractors directly in to the EU.

Or in other words, Brussels constantly works to screw everything up for the common person.

Goats are great, as long as they never get access to anything you don't want destroyed. Especially if they have horns. They somehow know that despite in the field tons of volunteer saplings, that the sapling fruit tree you just bought for 20€ is the one they should scrape off all the bark from in under a minute.

Hyundai is an amazing company. I believe they still build the largest supertankers in the world.
They must know how to hire good engineers and for sure the Koreans have copied the Japanese as best as they can.
For a while the Japanese and the Germans set the standards for world cars. Now it seems to be a much bigger
playing field. And if you look at Buick's repair frequency, you can still get a reliable American car, as much as any tech laden gizmomobile
can be reliable. Fond memories of having to park my truck on the side of an out of state highway, turn it off, wait, and then when rebooted the nav got its brain back.
Surprised they don't have control alt delete on the dash...;)

I never quite understood the overlap between Kia and Hyundai, used to be Kia was the economy brand of Hyundai. Not any more...now they are like Chevrolet and Buick.
And Kia even makes their own version of a Cadillac, like a Hyundai Genesis. Very sophisticated cars.
A real Asian success story. I'm sure helped by a national work ethic that is not exactly what I see when driving through my small city...

Before I retired, I spent a lot of time with Hyundai, Daewoo, and Samsung shipyards, negotiating contracts for Drilling Equipment, Cranes, Blowout Preventer Packages for the ultra deep water drill ships being built there.

I’d fly to Busan and driver would pick me up in a Hyundai Equus. The Equus is as comfortable as any Cadillac I’ve ever ridden in. Don’t know if the Equus is available in US.

Thanks for the additional car reviews. I did like driving that Tucson in CR; a lot of our friends have Hyundai's. We'll see.

40F and partly sunny skies with mixed mid and upper level clouds. The cloud decks should be thickening up as this next weather system moves in tonight bring rain to the lower elevations and mixed precipitation turning to possibly all wet heavy snow through Saturday. The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for this a area. It will be messy around here. So one low pressure system is still hung up in the NW CONUS and the other will track to the coast transfer its energy to the NE coast rapidly intensify ("bomb") and track close to the 40N70W "benchmark" and continue to "bomb" as it slowly travels northeasterly; might even retrograde back over the weekend. This storm will be windy too. There was serious "scatter" last night with predictions of accumulated snowfall from the different "model groups." NE PA, NY, western/northern NE were the areas to be most impacted by snow. My location is close to the predicted snow/rain line. At ~1400' elevation I may see ~6" of snow. I saw one snow map that clearly showed the "elevation effect." We'll see.... I am ready (unless we lose power).

Freedomlives- Good luck with the water and tractor challenges and I hope even more for you, your wife, anticipated child to be, and the rest of your flocks.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

The low this morning was 11*, yesterday was mostly sunny and in the high 30's. Looks like it's going to be partly cloudy with the high back into the 30's and a light wind.

Going to make another trip to town today. And see if I can fix a light over the reloading bench when we get back.

This is the first time in 16 year's that we are not on our way to Las Vegas this morning for the NASCAR weekend. The friends that we go with, the husband had a stroke last November and is in a V A home in Ogden Ut. We didn't feel right about going by ourselves. We always had a great time, it feels strange not going down.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Sounds like you need a "Slovexit" movement.
