Roomba-yes
Microwave-yes just replaced the one we got as a wedding present last week. It started flaming inside at 12 years old.
Crockpot-yes-2 sizes
Toaster/oven/convection oven-yes although we’ve never used the convection part.
Air fryer-no but wife has looked at them.
Inferred grill-yes

Drew. Nice shed. Be careful with that charger in there. Lots of barns have burnt because lightning hit the fence and caught the charger on fire. Wife’s dad lost one to that. Why mine is outside with a piece of plywood for a roof.

Went and got some lumber yesterday for different projects. 2x6’s to finish fence at barn. 2x4’s to picture frame current openings for new tunnel fans. And 6x6’s to replace some rotten post in the barn. Previous owners used oak post in the ground. Did finally find something the Kubota couldn’t pick up. LA1053 loader can only lift a full bundle of 2x4x12’ treaded boards a few inches then everything stalls. But I did manage to get it off the trailer. Took some finagling.

Currently babysitting. Waiting for wife to get back from city. She went shopping (lack of better term) this morning. She’s making wreaths to sell for an autism fundraiser and is having to buy out all local stores of supplies. And by local I mean everything within an hours drive.

I think my chicken numbers are safe. Especially if y’all are paying retail and adding 5 at a time.

RNG-- why do they do that? We got a new stove a couple of years ago-- having a button with electric ignition is quite the upgrade, but it works without electricity as well. If the eyes get blown out or boiled over water extinguishes them, there is some sort of thermocouple device that cuts of the gas.

We have water in the kitchen sink now! My wife got tired of not being able to wash pots and pans. When the water line to the house was redone 6 years ago, it went in the bottom of a ditch, that then got perforated drain pipe and gravel filled in. I realize that drainpipe is the problem, as it brings cold air up from the stream all along the ditch. I'll have to fix that with some sort of door at the discharge so air won't blow back up it.

But for now, since we have the well working, I just let water flow along the french drain for an hour from the well. It is 10C / 50F, so eventually from the kitchen sink drip...drip...drip... and then flowing. Two more days with hard freezes at night, so we'll leave it dripping for now.

I知 happy y誕ll is all happy with your cooking toys, and I知 happily ignorant thinking my cooking system is just fine. There are at least 6 gadgets in the appliance pantry that I have never touched except to move out of the way. I use my smoker, grill, crock pot, toaster oven, oven and range top. I can稚 possibly see why I need anything else. But if you ladies ever get together and make a cookbook I値l buy a copy.:laughing:

Both our KitchenAid range, and the Hamilton Beach countertop oven, are also convection ovens and we've never used that feature in either one.:laughing:

I pretty much just use the convection setting, as it cooks both faster and more evenly. Really works well on quarters of Costco pizza. Frozen to well browned and crispy in about fifteen minutes.:thumbsup: But I learned the hard way to cook them on a sheet of aluminum foil to catch the grease...:duh:

Have you tried to fire up your propane cooktop when the power's off, Jay? My propane range is about ten years old and incorporates a lockout that shuts off the propane when the power goes off. It was useless to me during the last power outage. Not sure there's a way of bypassing the lockout, either, unless I cut the lines and splice around it, and that would introduce two additional joints to fail in the propane lines. Safer to just fish the Coleman propane stove out of the camping gear.:shocked:

I think most of the newer gas cooktops, with piezo pilots, do shut down if power is lost. We’ve got a GE six burner plus two burner grill Monogram cooktop at the Ranch and it will not light if power is off. I tried lighting it with wood match, one time when we lost power for a few minutes, to to see what happened. No go.

The cooktop at our old ranch was a four burner with gas pilot light and it worked with power off.

Sounds like you've got all the bases covered, Randy, with tools you like and know how to use. No crime in that.

Over the years I've come to realize I like eating a lot more than cooking and cleaning up. So if I can prepare a meal using just one pot, that saves me a lot of time and energy. Even better that it's a BIG pot and there are lots of leftovers, the preparation and serving of which take almost no time. So when things like microwave ovens, convection ovens, and the Instant Pot come along, I try 'em out. If they work as advertised, as those three do, I get real excited because keeping myself fed gets a real boost in efficiency and I can waste the time saved working on or riding motorcycles or watching satellite TV.:shocked: That's pretty much the same philosophy that drove the Roomba purchase, and when iRobot comes up with one that can dust, change the bed, and do laundry, I'll be all over it.:laughing:

But if he did write it, you can count on a thorough coverage of the history of the Instant Pot and other modern cooking technologies, safety and fire hazards, available attachments, and tractor compatibility. Jay could probably edit it down to maybe 33 pages if we make the pichers small. Maybe we could talk Don into a couple chapters on healthy eating, Andrew's wife might throw in a couple traditional Slavic recipes, then we could fill the rest of it up with stuff that's easy to make and tastes good.:devil::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::stirthepot:

Eric might be an expert on making butter scones, butter biscuits (crackers) and butter cakes. (I've watched the Great British Baking Show. The Great British Baking Show | Shows | PBS Food ) Of course they think all we eat is hot dogs and apple pie.:licking:
