Some folks just bought the 5 acres next door to us, my other next door neighbor's have been great and i think the new folks are going to be as well. They are currently cleaning up the old homsite and preparing to build a new home. They had an arborist come in to evaluate the trees on the property and he recommended cutting several large old trees due to age and decay in them. When we first met a couple of weeks ago he noticed that I heat my shop with wood, and asked it I wanted the trees that had been cut. I found that the trees in question are a rather large flowering cherry (30" dbh), and a huge black locust (48" dbh) due to decay in the cherry it does not have much value other than fire wood. So right off the bat they have given me about 4 or more cords of high grade firewood already cut to length.
I will be helping these folks out with some tractor related stuff to say the least! As he enjoys shooting I helped I helped him build a backstop berm a couple of days ago. I now have an open invitation to use his range whenever I wish.
Sometimes I wonder how I have been so lucky in getting good neighbors!
