I'm still doing research etc, but leaning toward purchasing a B2650 in the next month or 2.

Clearing thickets off a couple acres of our 10 is a priority and I'm thinking I want a grapple.

Just wondering the best way to get it done.

Is the 3rd function from kubota the only thing I need to add to the 2650 to do this efficiently? Or are there other things that should be considered prior to purchasing the tractor.

Just trying to get it all done up front. Thanks.

Putting a larger tractor under the grapple would give you more lifting capacity and more weight to counter the grapple and the material in it. Either way you'll want to fill the rear tires and put ballast on the 3pt.

I don't disagree. But the 2650 is likely the largest frame tractor I'll need here.

And is at the top of my budget.

You are correct thats all you need is third function and of course ssqa bucket. Loading rear tires is a good thing if applicable, but I did not do mine as I use a mmm to mow around the house and can be a little soft in the spring. You can add enough 3 pt ballast to do work safely with your grapple. The B2650 is a great model. Good luck.

Be careful on the weight of the grapple;the more it weighs the less lift you will have.Best tool you could put on a tractor I.M.H.O.Of course ballast properly.

I have a b2650 and a grapple and as rkidd above states, the 3rd function valve is all you need with the quick hitch to be operational. Latch it in, hook up the hydraulic lines, hit the 3rd function switch and you are good to go. Ballast may be helpful depending on what you are trying to lift.

Definitely need the ballast for sure.

There are many options for grapples, everything attachments has a good selections. You generally want to go with the lightest grapple you can. If you do this then you can lift a lot heavier objects. This is especially important for our compacts that don’t have huge lifting capacity. EA offers there wicked grapple which comes in around 200lbs. This is what I will probably get for my 2650.

There are other options out there though. I have been looking at a 60” grapple that i can get for 800 delivered. But it also weighs 500lbs. So I would only be able to lift 300lbs less than with the EA one.
But it is also HALF the price. This I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons of going either way.
