Is the geometry wrong for a siphon?
Unfortunately it is, gravity won't help me much with this one, the run from the pond up to the tank is slightly uphill
Probably not a bad thing, my topper (aka bush hog) has skimmed over the pipe I hope to use for filling on more than one occasion. I discovered the hard way a while ago that siphons have little tolerance for air holes, whereas a few water leaks on a lightly pressurised surface pipe only make the grass greener.
