Amazon and "alternative facts" - rant

I let them trap me again.

I usually try to search all other avenues before ordering from Amazon. The last thing I bought from them was ordered on Dec 26 and still did not show as shipped on Jan 6. I attempted to cancel the order that Saturday and they came back and said it couldn't be canceled because it was about to ship. They shipped it that Saturday and it arrived on Monday.

Last Sunday I ordered a radio for my truck and here it is Friday and it still doesn't show as shipped. I did google the model number on google and ebay and didn't find the one I wanted at the same or comparable price so I went ahead and ordered on Amazon. I didn't think to search Walmart and did that yesterday and found it for the same price. No guarantee it would ship any faster but I would have taken a chance on ANY seller before ordering from the unreliable Amazon.

No excuse for anything to sit in cue for 5+ working days without shipping. I guarantee they are just doing it because I won't pay for their stupid prime membership. For all I know they ordered the radio from china and are waiting for it to get stateside before showing it as shipped. I'd be willing to bet when I cancel they will not allow it to be canceled.

There is a simple solution for when Amazon refuses to cancel.
Just refuse the package when it arrives.
Then they pay the shipping both ways, and you can claim a refund.
It has worked for me.

We live in "country" but lucky enough to have had the same UPS driver for a few years (maybe he just wants to take a drive to relax). We give him a Christmas bonus (not much...$25 I think). He delivers to inside the garage (with our permission). I think "FedEx Home" is a franchise operation (owner operator). Our biggest problem lately is with the USPS...delivery people are fine (we tip them too as we do our garbage guy) but the new distribution system needs some work. Mailed a letter from here to a destination 100 miles away...it took 5 days to get a postmark 150 miles in the other direction, then took almost 3 weeks to get to the recipient. A turtle could have beat that time I think.

How about this for USPS?
Last month!
A check for $14,386 in a PRIORITY CERTIFIED mail envelope from New Orleans to Sarasota..... only took 22 DAYS !!!

Serious question... how do you refuse a package when left at your doorstep?

With the post office I have to make a trip in and show that it has not been opened...

Just not as many drop off points...

This is where work comes in handy.

On a typical day I might have 4 FEDEX deliveries and two UPS and one USPS...

Are regular drivers I great and I help them a lot... I will sign for thing for the Docs which keeps everyone happy even if it is bending the rules... because it is my signature so my neck.

I do worry about all this just in time delivery business model... we have already had major issues like when the San Francisco UPS hub was shot up and people killed by a disgruntled employee... life saving medical tissue had to be thrown away because of the delivery delay and surgery cancelled.

We literally get eye lenses in the morning of surgery when the Diopter is outside a customary range.... and we have thousands of lenses in stock... the reps often have to "Borrow" from us...

Still... if I was preparing for surgery... I would want to know the lens was in hand the day before... not the morning of...

I almost had a stroke today. Placed an Amazon order for 6 items at noon today and at 4:00pm received the email that it had been shipped. Normally, it sits in limbo for at least a week before anything happens.
