I know a lot of folks try to get by with one smaller dump trailer for everything, but then you have a lot of compromises. Right now I have a 7x16 tandem axle flat trailer, which is fine for moving my equipment and for limited materials (as much as I care to shovel off). I see a dump trailer in my future, but it will be in addition to my other trailers, not a replacement for any of them. I just don’t see a dump trailer as a single solution for me.

I couldn't imagine a 7x16 trailer. I would give up and sell the dang tractor because of frustration! I'm thinking about selling my 24.5' deck out of frustration... And I'm 8.5' longer than you. I really think 30'-32' is the sweet spot. That's what I'm desiring.

Long trailers are nice when needed but quickly get in the way if you have to manuver anywhere remotely tight, I use my 18ft for just about everything, my 24ft is just too much of a pain to get in and out of places.

Next trailer will be a 20ft

I've never in 25 years been restricted by my trailer length or the almost 9' width.

I've also never wished for a fatter/uglier wife, a shorter Johnson, or a smaller trailer ...

Absolutely, go as big as feasible but my point is don’t necessarily make that your only trailer. I’m up to 3 trailers now, and each has a purpose. At some point I may get sick of having more trailers, but until then I like having several sizes.

I used to tow a dedicated equipment trailer many years ago for construction work, to move a trackhoe between jobs, and it was a monster, but we never ran into any type of equipment or load it couldn’t handle. That sort of trailer would be overkill for me now, but I’m sure I could make some room for it.... main downside is maneuverability, and that can be a pain in the butt.

I currently have 5 trailers at my place, 4.5x8, 6x12, 6.5x18, 8x24 and a 8.5x16 dump.
Unless I need it (which is rare) I don't haul the 24ft, the 18ft and 8ft get used the most because they fit the majority of my needs.

Hopefully this year or next I'll be replacing the 18 and 24 with a nice tilt deck 20ft to consolidate some.
These days unless it gets used regularly or has a specific purpose it's designed for its gotta go.

I use a 21.5' Pequea deck-over dual axle to haul heavier tractors and the StageCoach 14' single axle with small beavertail for the B2150 Kubotas and BX2200, etc. I cannot imagine putting up with a 30 or 32 ft trailer. No dealer stocks those that I have ever seen -- for a reason. Rare few want them. More power to ya Crawler, to each his own. I just would not want any part of a 30 or 32ft trailer.

Rock Crawler, thank you for posting the great pics with the lengths, any chance you have one showing length with the FEL bucket flat on the ground and the BH tucked all the way straight under? Like one might store the tractor? take care

The backhoe is longer if you tuck it, the main boom arm would last back and put the center pivot out further. To be shorter, you would pull the main boom forward and set the mechanical lock jaw, but the pictures were taken to show trailer length requirements and you have to have the buckets on the trailer deck. I have the backhoe off at the moment, otherwise I would run out and get you the length with the boom pulled in and latched.
