Why are there so few rear discharge F Kubota mowers around?

I don't think a F series RD has a problem running hot.

My ZD1211 radiator fan sucks fine dry clippings from the discharge area up onto hood behind seat & inside to the radiator screen which I have to dump it out every 2-3hrs of mowing.

I've learned to keep an eye on temp gauge & it's not a problem at all & certainly worth the trade off with no windrows & me staying clean as a pin :D

I may have the oldest F series in this group. It is an 1989 F2100 with 2300+ hrs on it. It has a side discharge deck that I like for moving leaves in the fall. Otherwise it has the problems described above. My main problem is clogging of the grass caught up in the deck. If it is at all wet or lush as in the spring I have to stop and use a putty knife to clean it out periodically. My deck is developing holes in it from abrasion and a bit of corrosion. Kubota does not have anything to replace it with and the rest of the machine runs like new. Have done some welding and patching on the deck to keep it working. I would buy a new deck if available. I have a RD finish mower for my MX5100 that makes an 84 inch cut. It works well and I use it where I can. It is great for plowing snow with chain on the front wheels only. Its been a great machine, just don't know if its time to replace it because of the mower deck. Probably not.

corl...keep an eye out for Kubota dealerships selling old stock merchandise--usually at auction. I've seen a number of odd mower decks show up that way.

It's hard to leave the F world. I've owned three with my first one F2680e 2wd bought about 10 years ago, traded it foolishly to a ZD and then bought the 2wd F back and bought a F3080 4wd side discharge and hated it so bad that I sold it and bought another F3080 4wd with rear discharge deck. Live and learn.

JOHNTHOMAS--I should have bought your F2680e when you sold it.

I listened for a long time, finally purchased a F2690 last year, then added the mulching kit to the side discharge. Very happy with the way things are going with the mower. Would not get rid of it for anything else on the market. I know never say never, but I will say never on this (for now!!!).

Everybody's application is unique.
If it works & owner is happy - that's all that matters

WHICH TIME?:D I regret selling it the second time but needed to move on to another 4wd F or something. :D It may come back to Barlows one day and probably still have less than 200 hours on it.

I'll probably find something first but keep me posted just in case. My plan now is to use my 7' pull type rear discharge mower for all the open spaces and maybe pick up a low buck JD front mower for under the trees and in corners. The big mower does a great job on 95% of what I have to mow.
