Any updates?

Today, at 7:26am the 50th truck arrived. it should be loaded and on its way to the sawmill by 8:30,,,

A computer on the CAT knuckle boom loader failed last Friday, the machine thinks there is water in the fuel.
I guess the engine is running at limited power,, the loggers are hoping CAT will be out to fix it soon,,

50 trucks! That's a lot of lumber. Are they still cutting?

50 trucks! That's a lot of lumber. Are they still cutting?

They have ten tractor-trailer loads on the ground right now, and nowhere close to finished.
Someone questioned the height of these trees, I measured these trees on Friday,,,

The loggers cut the top off when it dropped, and brought this part to the knuckle boom.
This much of the tree is 120 feet long,,,

The saw on the knuckle boom cuts them to 12-16 foot long logs,

Every load of logs looks virtually identical, some with bigger logs, some smaller.

The Virginia Forestry guys stop by about once a week, making sure the loggers do not make too big of a mess,,,:D

Wow. Incredibly impressive trees. What are they doing with the bucked limbs and the stumps? Are they grinding/mulching on-site?

Looking good, and this is interesting! I've been trying to give away about 60 BIG southern yellow pines. Maybe their price will go up enough that someone will take them. But, if that happens, then my building costs will increase too! By building costs, I mean my piddling little projects.

They leave ALL the branches where the tree drops, no chipping,,,
The loggers cousin has two chipping machines, he has not chipped anything in almost two years.
Chips have almost zero value.
The pulp logs must be straight, 12 feet long, and no branches.
They cut the pulp so accurately, it looks like miniature loads of logs,,,

Even here, pine has almost zero value,,, on my land, there was one pine tree,,,

I guess you're set for firewood for a while with the tops and branches of all those trees!
