Great job! You sure seem to know what you're doing (even if you are learning as you go). I would like to ask if you actually applied grease to the zerk on the steering rams? The fitting and the joint seem too clean. I wouldn't want you to have gone through that rebuild just to overlook something simple and ruin that mating surface.
I assembled it with a small amount of grease, but after reading your post I greased everything!
Thanks for the reminder!
Been following this from the beginning MD........ you are one of a bunch of guys on here that remind me how lazy I am :whistleblower:
Lookin' great !

Thank you :)
Your recent pics reminded me to ask if the fuel filter is pointing the right way? I'm sure it ptobably is- but most have an arrow to show direction of flow.
And those new 3 treads look sharp on your restoration, Oliver! Maybe do a bling grille of shiny expanded metal. You know, the shark teeth and eyeball from some of the early fighter planes!

Yes, the filter is right, but I'm going away with that setup. I'm gonna flare up some hard line, and put in a real filter. :) I'm real glad I got those new tires! I like the shiny expanded metal grill idea too.
Now you can use that Oliver on your neighbors disc.
Nice job she's looking good.
You really think this little Oliver can pull that disc? It sure would be easier for me tow it over there, and I wouldn't have to bother taking off the loader and box blade on the kubota...
Your initial pics of the tractor showed a grill that didn't look to be in too bad of condition. Was it worse than it looked?
Rob
No, it was just from something else that was thrown on there ;) I'd like the correct one
I don't have any sources, but I am curious.
Which style of grill are you looking for, there's the one with the big square 3x4 "egg crate" pattern, or the one with about 9 horizontal round-ended slots, with two vertical slots on either side? Looks like the "egg crate" version may be a little easier to find...or make? Would you need the whole nose, or just clean up the dents in your existing nose?
Although it wouldn't be correct for my year, I prefer the look of the metal horizontal slotted grill. I'd sure like to find a used one, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Likely will need some weights on the front end of that tractor.
I would actually like to fab up some sort of bracket to accept the more common and cheaper suitcase weights....any ideas??
Or a loader...
Aaron Z
I have the old loader for this sitting out in the field where I found this tractor, but it's too much work to bring back to life. I'd need new lift cylinders and a new tilt cylinder, plus all new lines. That would get expensive quick I would think. :/

Yes that's what used to pull that sized equipment. Is your neighbor going to reseed that field ?
As several others have mentioned spraying would aid in preparing it. If the field is reasonably level and smooth reseeding could be done with roundup,
waiting a week and a no till drill for seeding, two passes one to spray one to plant otherwise several passes to work the soil 4-6 inches with those disks.
Good luck

Have not measured yet. Maybe I'll get to it. Until now, I'm making this little Oliver go to work. I ripped this little field in front of my house with this contraption I made with parts lying around, I know it's not proper but it sure tore that field up! Then I went over it with an old wore out offset disc.

Great pics of that in operation. The sense of accomplishment and pride of a job well done is hard to understand unless you've done it yourself.

Olde Iron Works Again :cool2:

Makes me pretty happy, and all I've done from most of the way across the continent is click my keyboard !

Somewhere..... the engineers that designed that tractor, the people that built it, and the first farmer that plunked down what was a lot of CASH at the time are smiling too.....

Well done MD.

I would like to know why you would need new cylinders for the front loader?
Have some rust on them, try vinegar & alum foil or Coke and alum foil to remove it. Many times it will come off with a bit of elbow grease.

If you want to spend a little money try this stuff recommended by Jay Leno to remove rust from chrome. I used it on my classic cars chrome wheels and it did a great job.
