Mahindra 2638
Hi All,

I’m a newbie and I have a question regarding a Mahindra 2638 and a Titan grapple. When I removed the grapple yesterday, it was no problem. When I tried to reattach it, the fight was on! I had removed it with the grapple jaw in the up or open position. Apparently this was not the right position, it left the lines with pressure on them. I had to bleed the lines to be able to reattach them. What position should I have the grapple in order to not have this issue going forward? I took a nice bath in hydro fluid.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rob

Closed or propped open so no weight is on the hydraulic ram.

Btw most have done that....in the future have someone lift the grapple wing/arm enough to allow the QD to work- it shouldn’t take too much

Thanks for the quick reply. It was a bit disheartening I’ll try that next time!

DupuyDawg:
dupuydawg. Imho close the grapple, then after shutting off your tractor relieve all pressure on your hydraulics at the valve remember temps can change pressure as in unhook cold temps rise could cause pressure change.

Sorry to be such a newb, how do I relieve the pressure at the valve?

If you have an electric valve-

Shut machine off
Turn key to the on position but don’t start it
Switch between open and closed a few times
Turn key off
Undo or connect QDs

With manual valve-

Turn off machine
Cycle valve (grapple open and closed) a few times
Undo or connect QDs

Glad you asked this. I too did it just last month. It was near end of day, so I just left it unhooked. The next day it went right on. Guess all the pressure relieved itself over time.
