DPF filters are fine for the weekend warriors and hobby farmers. But when you get into commercial use and lots of hours per year it can cause you issues and down time. More and more big AG producers are deleting their DPF and DEF systems as the technology comes out.

As I have mentioned before. This information regarding tuning Kioti tractors isn't just about deleting DPF. You can tune for more power and keep the DPF. The option to remove it is also there.

If you have no issues with emissions control equipment and don't want to delete it, that's great. But others do and telling them "I have no issues with my DPF" isn't a very good arguement against it.

Wait till these filters are 10 years old and have 2000 hours on them. They will start causing problems and costing big money.

How much for all the tuning and deleting? Don't forget the warranty delete!

Thought my four years of actual experience with the Kioti DPF system might be useful input. ;) No complaint about the cleaner air either. Cranking up my 25 and 18 y/o other tractors reminds me of what I'm missing. Although that fragrance admittedly is nostalgic.

Last year a member here told me that the only way to uptune one of these was thru the ECM. I did all the homework and found that all the engine parts are identical in the NX series tractors and that the 45HP tractor was in fact detuned. I had contacted all the major programmers and was told that they have not got into tuning Kiotis yet. I'm glad to see that someone has finally cracked the Kioti system and can improve the HP on them now. I'm sure Kioti won't like it very much.

I would like to hear from the company that is doing the reflash and have them explain the process...
They need to join us here on the forum so we can discuss it..

I have to agree with you here on the cleaner air and barely a small at all. I can fire up my tractor inside my garage withthe dors closed and not stink the place up. Have no fear, I do open them asap to let the exhaust out.

Greetings, All,

Just a note of appreciation for all this discussion. I have lurked TBN for a while, contemplating the purchase of a tractor. I am attracted to the CK2610 specifically because it seems to hold potential for aftermarket up-tuning. I would not want to invalidate the warranty, but it would be a fine thing to look forward to an increase in power following its expiration. Having been involved in both automotive and computer hot-rodding, it seems so odd to me that we don't know more about how to tinker with tractors to coax better performance out of them. This thread is an important move in the right direction, I think: So please, keep on keeping on! :)

You don’t tune diesels in the same way you tune gasoline engines. Usually displacement is the biggest limitation.

You can’t just slap on a big turbo and hot cams like with a gasser and get a 60% hp increase because diesels already run lean. On trucks, people increase the injection pressure and volume, delete emissions, and put on a slightly larger turbo. With the advent of common rail direct injection, we could now inject more precisely and at much higher pressure, thus enabling higher compression and getting more useful power and torque. But these became inherently more difficult to modify because you have to hack the ECU. At the same time CDI’s were built lighter, so when doing mods you started running into problems like stretched head bolts.

With gassers it’s not unreasonable to get 100hp+ per litre of displacement. On a diesel you’d be hard pressed to to reach 90hp per litre. Also remember that diesels have a very narrow power band, so that power must be produced at a lower rpm unless you’re going to recreated the entire engine. As gasser can achieve more power just by increasing the allowable rpm.

Most European on-road diesels I find are already very well tuned, whereas North American trucks I find are very undertuned.

My Kioti DS4110 has the exact same engine as the DS4510 except without the turbo. Adding the turbo only gives me a 5hp gain which in my opinion isn’t worth the 2-3K it would cost me. But with an IDI and conventional inline injection pump, I’m not going to get this thing revving up to 4,000rpm and still be reliable.

It probably would cost the same to move up in tractor size and power as it would to try power up the tractor you have...
If you don't have enough power... get a bigger tractor..

Yeah, if I ever need more power, I’d likely just buy another tractor, but as it stands this one’s proven capable enough to tackle any of my projects. I’m not cropping or anything like that. I can lift a ton in the bucket and dig 8-1/2 feet deep with the backhoe, so that’s good enough for me.
