Melons were popping up, fun to watch like the beans.
Real UN here, funny that Russian melon popped up first.
Probably was doped...;)

by late afternoon half of these melons had come up.
Always interesting to see what germinates and what doesn't.

unexpected frost last night killed a lot of cucumbers and other plants that likely shouldn't have been planted this early.
Onions, cabbage, snow peas seem not to care, and even the beans are popping out of the ground.

Hope you are documenting all the failures for next years planting.

42 going up to 74 today in bright blue sunshine

It would be interesting to see a same vintage Harley sitting next to RNG's bike idling.
Something tells me it might be moving around a little more...
That blue color is really striking, a perfect Robin's egg color? RNG, did you clearcoat the blue?

Going to finish laying down the walkway landscape cloth in the garden, already need to cover part of what was already put down, ripped up
already but helper was throwing heavy steel tposts on it and that made a mess. Usually this stuff is covered with dirt, not serving as the world's cheapest carpet (and weed block). Nice to walk in there and around, think two rectangles put together. Okra being planted on outside lanes so I can get to it. Anything daily pick goes up front, once pick stays in the middle.

when it hits 80 here tomorrow, I'm putting out one tomato plant and one okra plant. Canaries in the mine...
Going to have to replace the cucumbers, they are now on the plant last list. Earlies and lates, and
I'm discovering what goes in which camp here. Beyond reading the package of course.

I've never liked snakes, though have to respect the local black snakes that do so much good. Saw a baby copperhead last year and it got the
sharp shovel treatment. Bright green little thing, nasty biters when young, anytime I guess if it gets you...

28F cloudy low 50's for high,1/2" snow fell last night makes everything look clean again, but only adds to wait time of spring cleaning.
Time for my morning E muffin follow fill the feeders than drive to the grind.

Enjoy the day all.

Currently 24 and going to a high of 36 F. Wind S 9 mph. Snow mixed with rain, dry so far.

The only snakes we see here are Copper Belly water snakes ( they are supposed to be a cousin of the garter snake). They are nasty little boogers. Strike first, ask questions later. How they get into my concrete lined dug well, I have no idea. It is a good thing we only use it for watering the garden, now.
The daughter in law says she saw a very large snake on the road the summer after she came over here. She said it was about 6' long and brownish in colour. There have been no rattler sightings around here in over 50 years, so I have no idea what she saw. (The only poisoness snake in Ontario, Canada is the Massasauga Rattler.) This is from 2013.

Have a good day all

We we first moved to our place in 1972 it was common to see Massasauga Rattlers in road after they have been run over. But have not seen one in a few years. But them water snakes are nasty. Funny I have never seen one in our garden pond. Garter snakes like it though. Amazing how fast they can swim across the 16'.

Good friend of mine in Colorado a few years older than me is at day five after chemo for bad lung cancer.
Non smoker.
How bad he's not talking, still in shock I think.
My late wife went through full courses of chemo three separate times.
Nasty business and for sure not always successful.
My friend is sick as the sickest dog and other than go find him a big funny card today, not much
I can do, he is so far away. We were on finance and house and grounds committees together at church
for many years.

I watch my PSA like a hawk, now my thyroid numbers are jumping up again even though they took out half my thyroid.
Seems to always be something...but as we get older, well, this happens. Suck it up and go on. And keep smiling.

The older we get the less I like my annual physicals and semi annual blood work.
Sort of hold my breath until the lab results come back.

And when I'm out hoeing potatoes, which reminds me I have one more row to go today, I don't think about any of this.
I listen to the birds sing along the treeline nearby. I swear they are talking about coming over and chowing down on my seeds.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 39° with light rain this morning. Heading to 69° after morning rain. Got all the limbs picked up and put on chipper pile yesterday. Neighbor never texted back about his tree limbs. Going to work on cleaning up garden pond today.

Tuesday and yesterday we had more snow overnight. Here is a picture taken in downtown Milford, MI. Tuesday morning at the upper millpond.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Ellen is coming over for breakfast and this is a work from home day, so she’s working from my home today. I’ve got to avoid getting distracted. If I’m not careful I could find myself working in the flower beds instead of checking out those jeans!

who says you can't do both? That's called multitasking...;)

Somehow I think you'll manage.
Remain strong. Remain fast.
And then jump when she calls...:D
Go for a ride in your Monte Carlo, should be a pretty day there too.
Of course if you ask Ellen to help you weed and you point to a spot which places you in
a truly admiring position, well life sure is good.

Jeans while working in the garden? Isn't it hot over there yet? Tendency here is to do garden work in underwear or (for the younger women) bikinis.

We made a rapid transition from cold to hot weather here. Now I'm inside drinking coffee and translating some.

Made the cabinet for the bathroom sinks. Clear epoxy is drying. Got some bubbles trapped, but wife doesn't care, she just wants sinks in the bathroom finally.

Actually, she also wants the garden rotovated, and I've still got to move the goats and sheep-- I guess tonight, seems better always when its dark to walk them down the street, as they're less tempted to go into the yards of neighbors.

Glad we don't have any poisonous snakes here, except at higher elevations the fairly rare european viper (viper berus) that isn't impressively venomous. I don't miss the reptillian variety of Georgia at-all!
