I guess being a horn dog was a rite of passage that we all went thru. Thanks for the memories 'cause my get up and go, got up and went!

Reading the title of this thread, my first thought was building a tunnel like they had in Hogans Heroes. We where always building forts, including a few tunnels that my Mom found and filled in, and one that she never found and is probably still in between a set of trees in the field behind the house I grew up in. That one was pretty close to Hogans heroes with battery lights, a big room with a table in the middle of it and a very secret entrance in some bushes at the base of a huge oak tree.
Finding anything dinosaur was probably top ten. If it wasn't, it should have been!!!
My best memories growing up were of building forts, digging tunnels and playing "Army". Good Times!
Forts out of pallets, Maybe that why those pallets are in the field they have nothing to do![]()
My sisters dug a tunnel in a huge pile of dirt in our back yard. More like a trench, but they put plywood over the top and dirt over that. They had lanterns, chairs, throw rugs, flowers, etc... full of girly stuff!
My mom got worried they'd die in a cave-in, made them pull it all out and made my dad fill it in. Little did they know pretty much every kid, boys and girls, in our little secluded neighborhood knew the layout of about 2 miles of city-owned 8' diameter drainage tunnels like the back of our hands! Where the entrances, exits, man-hole covers, ladders, etc... were.![]()
