You do know that lithium doesn't make up much of the actual battery right? That's like saying cars are going to be infeasible to run because the price of synthetic oil is going up.
I see there isn't much water behind Hoover Dam. In fact, I was quite shocked. That doesn't seem very sustainable to me.

Let’s see a spread sheet with the costs .
The base material Lithium is rising in price due to demand exceeding supply. So much for cheaper lithium batteries.
The indicated current price stands at $209 per kWh, on the pack level.
The price provided by BNEF is 24% lower than one given a year ago, and just about a fifth of what it was in 2010.
But the good news doesn稚 end there. It痴 expected that by 2025 battery prices will decrease below $100 per kWh on the pack level.
The thing about battery technology is...it will only take a few major advancements in perfecting things like hydrogen fuel cells etc., etc...and the need for many batteries will simply go away...
