I put my chain brake on when I have to step or climb over something, when on uncertain ground or walking with the saw any distance. Not every two steps. Having said that I have tripped taking ONE step backwards with an idling saw, probably more than once if I think about it. Usually a vine or berry cane, something hard to see and in those cases I tossed the saw away from me. Stuff happens but with PPE it improves your chances. Good boots up past the ankle help a LOT.

Here's my little old F2100 skidding a small log. It can handle bigger, depending on the traction available.

When I cut through a spring pole last year, the chainsaw (Stihl MS 461 Stihl) was thrown full throttle into my forehead. My cousin that went up in the woods to later retrieve the chainsaw and drive the skidder out of the woods, said the chain brake never even snapped on. Now that is scary!! All I know is it happened quick!

20 stitches right between the eyebrows, 4 days in the hospital.

I jokingly tell people, "Yeah I took on a chainsaw and won!" (This time)

That little bugger certainly earns it's keep for you! Do you use it for mowing in the summer?

Cleaned out the fire pit. I still need to straighten up the rocks and replace the broken ones that have cracked from the heat. But it’s a good feeling to have spring finally show up. Such a beautiful day today and more to come!!!!

Yep, I definitely get a lot of work out of it year round. I've committed to stop using it as a "tractor" though and am working at finding myself a CUT or SCUT. I'd rather save it for the grass than shortening it's life expectancy by doing things like bashing through the bush in snow and mud, hauling a load of wood.

Nice looking place you have there!

Started doing the clean-up from the aspen harvest when I was up last week. I'm going to need to run my stump grinder just to get all the crap off the ground so we can grow prairie grasses and flowers as intended. Ended up with a wood carpet.
