My pit is also about 2’ deep. It’s roughly 9’ round

Helped a neighbor who wanted to extend a retaining wall. Took out about 4 or 5 feet of embankment and used some of the dirt to build up the approach to his carport. He had about a 5" lip where the gravel and dirt had just worn away or become compacted over time. We made a bit of a drain just beyond the point where the gravel/dirt edge is to get better water runoff and then finished by compacting the dirt and respreading the gravel over it.

This is probably child's play for most of you guys but it was quite a challenge for me. I've never done anything like this before and it was difficult to manage the tractor, bucket and edge all at the same time. Not to mention all the other hazards liked parked vehicles and such. I have a new respect for those that move dirt for a living.

Got the tractor stuck in a Spring seep last week. The boys wanted to smear some of the mud arround. Very little mud was removed!

Got mine and my neighbor's bottom pastures raked yesterday. Got pasture seed spread in neighbor's field. Wind came up before we could get mine spread. Going to be windy today too. Maybe next weekend we can get mine done. Hoping for some rain next few days. Going to finish some spring clean up stuff today.

That is a great pic that will be around for generations. Always take pictures along the way in life.

Thanks.
I was sitting there feel slightly anxious about all the work I "should've" been getting done; then I gave myself a mental dope-slap. I have a hard time convincing myself to not just work all the time.

Priorities.

My seat time today, was lifting logs over my wagon and cutting them into firewood,

It made for a pretty good load!

Rob, I think by now you must have a mountain of firewood a mile high and two miles wide. You can't possibly burn all that, do you sell it?
Or are you making a collection of planks to build things?
Are you clearing land to farm or is this all woodland firewood?

I'm cleaning up after a tornado... I cut out the saw logs to be milled and the rest is going to firewood

I don't sell firewood, I burn it and I'm trying to get a couple years ahead...

Today, we turned this,

into this,

Something over two cords in all...

How much do you burn a year, Rob? With all your efforts, you must be a couple years ahead!

I was thinking the same thing. Most posts I read from Sawyer Rob involve wood. I would think he's a decade ahead. But having firewood is like having money; can you ever have to much?

I moved some rocks. Sadly I’ve got plenty more smaller ones.IMG_4111.JPGIMG_4109.JPG

Over the course of the last two weekends about 3 trailer loads like this and 5 or 6 buckets of rock (I lost count lol!)

Wasn't much "seat time" for me. All the rock and about half the brush was hand loaded so it was more "feet time".

On the bright side, the bush hog will thank me come August. IMG_20180428_100915.jpegIMG_20180422_131516.jpeg

Breaking up another shed. A previous property owner built several. They are too small to do much with and also short - I am 6-4 and my head touches the joists. So just eyesores really. I munch them up into small pieces and load into the dump trailer. Doesn't take long. The shed in the background is next to go.

OK, you want to see one of my "other" jobs I do?

ONE of them today was to hook a com-a-along between my tractor and the U-joint yoke, on my wood hauler (AKA chit spreader) to get it off to replace a U-joint.

After heaten n beaten and pulling with the com-a-long for nearly two hours, it FINALLY came off,

standard.jpg

Now I get the pleasure of cleaning it all up, finding a u-joint and putting it back together!

BUT, not today!

BTW, it was probably only on there 60 or 70 years...
