PTO Problem

I have a 2016 MAX26 Shuttle

The rear pto engages you can feel the gears lock in when holding the shaft. However there is no power at the shaft.

Any thoughts?

Not sure but I’m guessing their is a seat safety. If your grabbing the shaft who’s sitting in the seat?

Temp bypassed the seat to test the output power of the pto as it was not working.

Ok so just to understand- clutch in, PTO lever or switch fully engages, you hear a clunk, release the clutch and the shaft isn’t spinning? All other gear functions work? Forward, reverse- high, low etc.
Have you used the PTO before? If so, with what and when? Anything different the last time you used it? Etc

No there is never a clunk.

test #1 clutch in PTO lever fully engages the clutch out the pto spins but if you grab it it will stop spining as if a bad clutch when you release it it starts to spin again.

test #2 clutch in pto lever disengaged clutch out pto does not spin

test #3 clutch out pto lever engaged wile holding pto shaft you can feel the gears mesh and the pto will grab and start to spin but if you hold it it will stop, if you let go it will start to spin

Lastly all gears work the tractor drives and functions in all other gears both high and low forward and reverse

As for previous functions i just purchased the tractor as is from an auction with 434 hours for 3k

Looking thru the service manual i havent found the issue just yet

Going near,much less intentionaly touching a pto shaft while engine is running is down right foolish. Take it to the dealer before you are crippled or killed.

Obviously you have never worked on a tractor. If you are SMART and CAREFULL you can work on them like this. I have been around tractors my whole life and farming. So just relax there will be no one killed here.

I haven’t seen the inside of that machine to know if the pto has some type of clutch or syncro. It sounds like the gears are touching each other but not engaging. The easy fix is linkage that isn’t moving the gears far enough to engage. Hopefully it’s not a burnt pto clutch.
Crossing my fingers it’s a simple adjustment.

Yea sorry to say i have worked on enough tractors and i strongly think the gears are syncing but it does seem like a clutch slipping. I just received the service manual so i likely will be looking towards the clutch and it does not look that bad to change but i was hoping for an easy answer

Not here to argue, but one of the most dangerous jobs in this country is farming and lots of moving parts!

I don't care how safe someone is, there are always accident, and even fatal ones!
