I didnt have much of being showed how to, but then again yes I did. SO I am not sure where I am personally, but I do try to have the kids do something and make sure they understand you have to do X before you get paid.

I seriously considered doing taxes and social security with him, but I'll just keep paying on the income myself. I dont want to get the wagon in front of the horse.
That is good size. Not many of these mesquites get half that size. I have seen some pushing it, but very few. I imagine at 76 I wouldnt want to do it either. The big thing down here is using it to smoke food with.

Thank you for your kind and generous offer, but that won't be necessary. I can get it here; but buying it at Academy isn't quite the same. I had occasion to ship some Blackjack Oak to an individual in Iowa, who was unfamiliar with it; he's a Big Green Egg fan like me. He raved over it! Mesquite, Blackjack and Pecan (or Hickory) are my stand by for all occasions BBQ.

Well I cut it it to pieces he can handle or the ones that are a bit big I cut them about same length and I will put in the splitter for him then usually he can take it from there if it needs to be split again.
We are in Texas.

It's pretty well been eliminated here in Central Oklahoma in the flatlands, but there's plenty of it a bit North and West of here in some of the uncultivated ranching areas. Mesquite is the best thing that ever happened to BBQ!

When me, my older brother and younger sister were kids, we used to help cut/split wood. My sister moved 5.5hrs away, so she doesn't anymore but me and my brother both still help my father. I don't even burn wood. When my and my brother were younger, we used to hunt night crawlers and sell them for $2.75/dozen. Didn't get paid til we sold 'em. We packaged them up, used to open the containers for customers so they could see how fat and healthy they were. Taught us a lot about work and dealing with people. We didn't have an allowance. We wanted money, we worked for it.
