...Old mower will stay here as long as it still works and doesn't require much $$ to keep running. It has a 4 ft deck...new zero has 5 foot deck and ROPS, so waiting to see if places I won't be able to mow with it.

I found with a ZTR I was going places and literally inching up to stuff I had never attempted before. And that's with the ROPS up! Heck, I even ended up using the push mowers less.

I did have to lop some branches here and there. But even along the fence lines, I just take a different angle with the mower and all is good.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with your new work mate.

Soon the fish in my top pond will be getting the occasional rabbit for a treat. To make things more entertaining for children (of all ages), the rabbit goes into a bucket with holes in the bottom, then all it takes is a few eager flies to start off the protein conversion.

Not recommended for ponds that are close and upwind of a house !
I just toss the rabbits right into the pond. The gator will have a snack.

a perfect two incher. I'm surprised actually they are this big, flowers still on plants.
Yeah, I thought of zooming in....:D Wow, it's as big as my house!
Yours are likely larger underneath the ground.

I'm going to say summer is starting today. Every day in the forecast in high 80's or low 90's.
And the latter half of next week shows a lot of rain. Within reason, I'll take all I can get...

Helping ladies of Garden Club unload truckloads of herbs and flowers for a plant sale today. I was supposed to have
tomatoes and peppers for this but as reported they all almost expired in the sun. Looking garden over yesterday, I'd say that 90 percent of those plants
did not look good at all after transplanting, about a third died, and the rest are now doing fine. I'm going to have a lot of tomatoes and peppers, at least a hundred plants growing
of each. So that's good. Means I have to get moving and get some twine hung between the poles to do a "weave" on the tomatoes.

This afternoon I hope to finally get on the Super A and do some corn cultivating. I should do more hand hoeing but need to mix in some "fun stuff" with
that hard work. The absolute worst is when I nick a corn stalk with the sharp edge of the hoe and that's all she wrote, end of corn.
Pleased to see that dozens of Hale Jumbo cantaloupe plants are coming up. If I can keep the critters out of that area, going to have lots of melons. Maybe.
Never grown a melon in my life so this is all trial and error. Plus beets and carrots are now coming up, well there's a line of something there.

Is it a weed? Or is it Memorex? (talk about a successful jingle way back when)
Today if you asked someone, other than a musician..., what Memorex was they would probably
guess it was a pill for senior memory boost...
Just Remember Drew if you are trying to impress the "ladies" of the Garden Club those 2 potato's go in the front of your shorts not the back!! :) :D

Good morning all.

Drew, that potato looks good. For me, nothing in the garden this year yet. I'm still waiting for shipment of the gas tank for my tiller.

Riptides, I gave away my ZTR a few years back. I wish I hadn't. Even though most of my yard can't be mowed by a ZTR, it would be helpful with the area around the house.

I wish all of us on the mend to heal well and quick.

With my 12 hr shift work, all I can do last night on my tractor repair was cutting the bolts and took the top part of my ROP down. Next come removing the seat and fender so I can get to my remote valves and fix the leaks.

A couple years back I installed 2 big fluorescent lights for my dock. One has gone out. I found out a replacement bulb cost as much as an entirely new LED flood light on Amazon. The fluorescent light will be replaced with the LED. It appears everything is heading it that direction.

Me think a good Texas sized zucchini in the front will be a whole lot more impressive than two taters.
PS: Don't use Alaskan zucchini else they'll think you're a freak.

66°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 91° today. Guy on the radio suggested we may be breaking a few records over the next few days. Maybe 95° Sunday and Monday.

Stopped at the hospital in Granite City on the way home yesterday to visit my best friend. He'd been feeling poorly since last Friday, and his nurse girlfriend finally talked him into going to the hospital on Tuesday to get himself checked (he works there in IT anyway, and any care is covered 100% for employees). Doctors initially thought it was his appendix, so they removed it Wednesday. Yesterday, his temperature spiked up to nearly 105°. Seems he has an infection in his blood, and they can't find the source. I sat and talked with him for about an hour before they started talking about moving him to ICU. I'm worried for him. At 51 years old, he's not in the best shape, and he drinks way too much. Hoping the infectious disease specialist can get it figured out today.

CjR, the zucchini thing makes me think of the airport scene in the movie Spinal Tap .

I had relatives who raised rabbits when I was growing up. My hunting choices over the years eventually dwindled down to just rabbits and squirrels. I've eaten a lot of rabbit in my life. I like it. The little boogers are easy to clean, too.

Down here we don't eat rabbits in the hot months. Too many parasites.

It's wet this morning and 40*, it looks like it's going to be that way all day. They are saying a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms all day. The weekend doesn't look any better. We might have showers tell the middle of next week.

All the plans are on hold for next few days. I was going to work on the neighbors fence some more and paint my water shed.

Hope the weekend is nice for everyone.
CWB.
