Any comments on the newer Cherokee and/or the Ford Fusions? Looking at getting them for the kids. They are both needing new vehicles. I am looking at used ones, they both seem reasonably priced used. Looking for both good and the bad comments.

Those are two very different vehicles. We have a 2013 Fusion Hybrid. It's a nice drive and has been very trouble free. With gas prices increasing, 40+ mpg feels good.

Daughter has a 2006 Fusion and she loves it. Pretty trouble free so far with 140k miles.

Consumer Reports and most other auto groups rate Jeeps as costly to own because of their problems.

Thanks for the input. Didn’t know they were making Fusions in 2006.

I've always read this too (about Jeeps), but I've owned numerous Jeeps over the years, and currently have a 2015 Wrangler and a 2005 Liberty (with +150k miles now), and have never had "problems". The only thing I can think of that could be considered a problem was I had an alternator go out on a '99 Cherokee with 85k miles, and an alternator on the Liberty with $125k miles. I don't consider either one a problem. Other than that my '94 Wrangler, 99 Cherokee and my two current Jeeps have been good vehicles. Everything else I've done to them have been regular maintenance.

Just my 2 cents.

Friend that works for Jeep dealership does not recommend the newer Cherokee saying they have lots of problems. A Local ford / Chevy dealer put their kids in fusions . My fusion is going strong at 190,000

We have a couple Cherokees at work (6 or so that i know of), one had a faulty thermostat and the others I don't ever recall anyone having any real problems with them and they get a lot of miles. The 4 cyl is a bit weak in the mountains but always ran well.
