Is this the right fitting for my remote hydraulics?

This is the fitting that came on the post pounder i bought.


I cannot get it to go past the little balls in the remote hydraulics receptical. I have tried moving the little levers undrr the remote hydraulics side to side. I did get a release of pressure/fluid the first time i slid the lever to the side, but cannot get the little balls to compress to allow the fitting to slide in. Any suggestions?

With the coupler release is depressed are you able to move the balls with the tip of a screwdriver? My couplers balls were rusted and frozen in place. I disconnected the coupler halves from the hoses and worked until i got the coupler apart. Replaced the original balls with 316 stainless steel ones. My couplers are hose end type, though. I am not familiar with how the coupler block works.

If there is pressure on the implement side, it is also difficult to couple (IE weight on the wheels of a pull type bushhog).

I guess my first question would be which way should the levers under the remote hydraulics ports be facing? Im guessing that they should be pointing straight out to connect the hose then slide the lever to the side to lock it in place and allow hydraulic fluid to flow.
To answer your question, no i could not get thw balls to depress using the tip of my leatherman. It looks like the inside of that port stays pretty saturated with hydraulic fluid; im surprised to hear those little balls rust!

My rusted couplers were for the FEL. Once coupled the connection is oil tight. Rain water will work it's way into the dry side of the coupling. My couplers were not removed for many years by the previous owner hence the rust. It could probably been prevented if the couplings had been removed occasionally or possibly wiped with grease. The couplings for my 3rd SV (MMM lift) are still frozen.

I would guess that sideways would be released (flow blocked) and aligned with the hose for flow. This is how ball valves are oriented. But this is just a guess. I don't have this kind of coupler assembly.

That's the WRONG tip on your hose. You need what are now called "old style" JD hose tips. You have a newer ISO type tip. They are also sometimes called "cone" tips, since they have a taper to them.

To connect, move the lever on the bottom to point to the rear. Connect hose. Then move the bottom lever 90ｰ to the side. This presses the poppet in the hose tip to open it for flow.

ON the bottom of the valve that controls the coupler is a metering lever. Moved to left is slow, moved to right is fast. It control how fast the hydraulic oil flows

This appears to be a continuation of the hydraulics thread with the question related to the post pounder on a JD 2240. If so, would be helpful to continue in that thread or make a link to it.

Take the fitting shown to your Deere dealer and ask for the correct one for your tractor, maybe it is the 2240. Removing the elbow may be a good idea if you want a straight away hose connection.
