JD3005 won't start after being upside-down for 24 hrs

I flipped my JD3005 & it rested upside-down for about 24 hours. I got it back on its wheels this morning but it won't start. When I turn the key I get a single clunk sound. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Hydro locked. Hopefully you didn't break anything trying to turn it over. Take out the injectors and turn it over to get the fuel and/or engine oil from top of the cylinder. be sure to check you fluid levels when done........Mike

You need to just let it set for 24 hrs without trying to start it. Gives the fluids time to drain back down. As MrMikey said take the injectors out also. Sounds like a hydrolok where fluid gets trapped between the piston and head and won't let anything move, hence that clunk sound as something has to give. Hope no major damage.

It's the Gods giving you a "time out" until you think through safe operation of equipment. Once they have decided you have thought it over, it will start. Or have someone else turn the key.

Yea, number one rule after flipping a tractor, let it sit for a long period of time before attempting to start it....the longer the better. It is best to let it sit for 24hrs minimum to make sure the fluids settle back. It is also a good idea to remove the glow plugs, disconnect the battery, and try turning the engine by hand to make sure it isn't locked before trying to turn it over with the starter. If the engine is locked when trying to turn it by hand then you certainly don't want to try to crank it using the starter. Using the starter to crank a locked engine is just a fast way to bend/break things.

Isn't the CLUNK usually the fuel solenoid? Could you tell if the starter was powering up, solenoid going forward and trying to turn the engine?

When I flipped my Steiner with the Kubota 722 Engine, it was only upside down for forty minutes or so. I left it for an hour, disconnected the fuel solenoid so it would not start and turned it over with the starter.

Maybe not the proper course of action, but it worked. Well, I did break off a screw in disconnecting the solenoid!

"Nothing but a single clunk" isn't a lot on information to try and debug this. Could be hydro lock, but I'd start simple and first make sure the battery is up to snuff. Could have been damaged and/or the electrolyte drained out.
