Congrats on the retirement. Been retired for 15 years now...never out of things to do. Lots of things here on the property...have helped a lot on community projects...got to learn to say no to folks looking for volunteers. It is great going to dinner on week nights...we stay away from the crowds on weekends. Enjoy...hope you have many years of the good life.

...to realize that I am actually retired and don't have to rush to finish a project. I was thinking, on the last nite I worked, about how we have "muscle memory" from doing a repeated task. We don't really even have to think about it to perform it. I got to wondering if we have "work memory" from going to the same place over long years. I keep thinking my week off will be over Friday and I go back for another 7 days...lol Not happening. I think it will take at least 3 or 4 weeks to "retrain my brain". I wonder how many times I will leave the driveway and head the wrong way toward work... lol :confused2:

Best advice I can offer is "Stay active". Don't be a couch potato but don't work yourself to death either. Dont race out and buy every toy in sight. Give careful consideration to everything you do and have fun, you have earned it.

From someone that has maybe 10 years to go... congrats and I am jealous! I am fortunate to work out of my house and travel lots on business so I do get more than my fair share of time around the house. When I retire I will not be traveling much as I 'been there done that' on someone's else's dime mostly. Being a DIYer means there is never enough time and I know that won't change. As others have said, stay active/busy with projects. My 85 year old neighbor and I are always talking about another proyeck. He has so many that he keeps coming up with over a beer on the patio... that is the spirit!

Hahahaha. I don't care what day it is or what time it is. Haven't worn a watch since the day I retired. What is time to a Hog?

If not wearing a watch is the sign of retirement, then i must have retired 20 yrs ago. Now if i can just stop driving there..

Get rid of your phone! I know if I did, I would be retired (fired) quickly. :D

I think one of the best things about retirement is you can now turn that dang phone off. Sure lowered me stress level and blood pressure.

Congrats, I tell folks I’m living a life of Saturdays. Still get up at 0600 everyday though, Navy beat that into me 40years ago.
