Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I had one of those, used it to wedge the PTO shaft thru one of the yokes so it wouldn't turn while I worked on the blades. Forget to remove it before I engaged the PTO. It first bent it, then the bar broke about 1 foot from the end and both pieces flew off to the side. This all happened before I realized what had happened. I engaged the PTO at low idle and it killed the engine. I though I had just not given enough throttle so I upped the engine speed to about 1500 and reengaged the PTO. I think the bar bent at low idle then when I boost up the throttle, it broke and slung it out. The bar was stuck in the yoke before the slip clutch so no protection available.

I did manage to heat and almost straighten the shaft and weld the end back on. I lost about 1 foot of the bar in the process. So far the bar is still much stronger than me so it has never bend or broke. I just used 7018 rod to weld it up.

Here is a pretty good deal if you are going to spend $50 anyway. The non-contact thermometer is handy.

Those HF pry bars become solid steel bars with just a bit of hammering on the handle (speaking from experience) but they do get several inches shorter in the process.

Heheheheheheh  I see what you did there....

Also as relates your other posts re: Pry bar modification/enhancement/customization by PTO and Weld technique- it was just lucky nothing else broke, and it's obvious that you weren't wearing your magnetic hat that day, or you might not be here to post.

How far away did you find the pieces?

I bought this furniture dolly for $8.61 this morning. With some leftover 11-ply plywood added, it makes a great jack dolly for moving the dump trailer around.

I bought one of those about a year ago, and it's still in the plastic. Think I got it on sale for $20.
I use mine for checking the wheel bearing temp on my trailer. Also good to diagnose cooling problems on tractors.

I use my thermometer for quite a few things including my wood stove and smoker/grill.
