no Cell phone holder or glove box
cup holder too shallow
oil filter is exposed
safety switch under hydro pedal is exposed
radiator seems to collect debris more than it should
I like my tractor and a lot of thought was put into it, but it's not perfect

Darn Fordson E27n!

It sits so close to the near side wall, that I need to clamber over the mounted snow plow to get to the fuel shut off. That added to the too tall exhaust stack that must be removed (hot I may add) before the old gal can be backed in too close to that wall are just about more than a man should put up with.

Now don't get me started on the hand crank start, or that I have to climb up over the draw bar and seat to get to the operators station to pour fuel into the tank. ....

Oh The pains I put up with. I do like the Ford blue color with orange wheels, And the rhythmic pulses of that four cylinder engine at a 300 rpm idle is just about the cat's pajamas.

I guess Ill put up with her, as long as she'll have me.

I like my Massey 1758 tractor. But I have to nominate how to change the dashboard display from Km/Hr to Miles per Hour as one of the most user UNFRIENDLY things I've seen on a tractor.

Here are the steps to changes from Km/Hr to Miles per Hour on my 1758:

1) Turn ignition key off and leave it off for at least 1 minute.
2) Remove the fuse cover below the steering wheel. Remove the 5 amp bottom right hand side fuse.
3) Turn the ignition key switch on but do not start the engine.
4) Press the "Display Select Switch" on the dash one time.
5) Begin pressing this same switch enough times until you see "Unit Set" on the display.
6) Long press the "Display Select switch" for 2 seconds until you hear the Buzzer go off and release.
7) Wait about 2 seconds for the Display to say "Unit Set"
8) Turn the ignition switch off.
9) Re-install the fuse.

Presto! In just 9 easy steps (plus a fuse pull) it now reads miles per hour instead of Km/hr.

Does your tractor have something you would also consider to be user unfriendly?

And just how often do you do this?

My gripe? The hour meter is WAYYY too low.

John Deere 2030, Collar shift transmission. You have to come to a complete stop to shift gears or ranges. But it's 44 years old

Same for my tractor non syncro manual trans -
oh also it takes 2 vertical steps up to get in (on) the tractor after every stop that requires getting off and back on and also I can only get on from the left side.

Kubota L3200 - Cable operated PTO lever on right side. I got tired of trying to keep it adjusted so it would fully disengage the PTO, so I just took off the floor plate under the seat, and now reach down and pull the PTO lever on the tranny. The flaky side mount lever control could be eliminated if they just installed a push/pull plunger directly on the transmission.

Unless it needs a park regen you don稚 hit the button unless you need to stop the auto regen. Keep the rpms above 1800-2000 and keep working it will complete its regen. Only time you have to activate the regen is if the light is flashing, then you have to do a park regen.

That's great....if you can see it....which is the point.......add on all the dust build up from cutting.....and........there yah...go dash display still sucks!

Yes I understand your point, mine was completely different.

I've posted before that the digital dash on my B2650 is not nearly as easy to read as the analog dash on my B2620. The B2620 you can read at a glance while working. The B2650 I have to really stare at to get a reading on the engine temp and fuel level, especially in sunlight.

And..........the ride (B2650) while mowing is much rougher than the ride on the B2620. Even both have R4 tires (industrial).... Maybe the difference is in suggested tire pressures or the difference between a floating deck (B2620) versus the ground engaging deck on the B2650.

I'd like to be able to put the PTO drive shaft on then have enough energy left to start my tractor!

Setting the parking brake so it stays running, it is on the floor just right of the transmission. It is a pain to reach down there and move the lever while depressing the brake pedal with your right foot.

I'd like to be able to put the PTO drive shaft on then have enough energy left to start my tractor!

I put the PTO shaft on my rotary cutter on one of those very hot days recently. I had to go inside and rest 30 minutes prior to starting cutting. Needless to say, by then it was at least 150 degrees. I thought seat time was supposed to be fun.

The PTO connection mechanism is one of the things I soak in silicone spray before, and after use, and monthly when not in use,,

I removed the grease entirely from the sliding mechanism (the two shafts that fit over each other)
I replaced it with synthetic 90WT oil...

Now, I can connect the PTO shaft without a heart attack,,,, :cool2:

I'll try the 90WT. I'm pretty sure that task has deducted 10 years off my life just because of the frustration.

You know, I was wondering about that. Not being a salty veteran with tractors, I haven't had a reason to use just one side of the brakes but thought to myself that'd be pretty hard to do even if I wanted to. Maybe you're supposed to ride side saddle in those situations

I have done just that on the very rare occasion, when I needed to split the brakes [in deep mud and no effect from turning the front wheels]- it wouldn't have gotten out of the ditch we were digging otherwise.

...and it really was awkward to try to get both feet on that side of the station [prolly not helped by foot size- see below...]...

My big problem is having/needing size 14 shoes to fit my big 'ole feet, because when I push it down all the way, the back edge of the go-pedal pops up and clips me right in my right Achilles tendon...

I'd like to be able to exit the tractor more easily on the right side. This is necessary due to the tight spot I park it in. Have to get off and on from the right side (when seated). The FEL lever is in the way and there's no step. The older I get the more difficult it is and my bum knee doesn't appreciate the jump down.

Kevin

Hi Kev,

My SWMBO and I are both kinda decrepit in different ways, so I mounted a step sold for a pick-up truck on the left side of ours- and the way I mounted it, it will pivot up freely with the mower deck's ups and downs, but it's the most help with the MMM off in the winter.

Why couldn't you put a step on the right side of yours?

I know that the FEL control will still be in the way, but if it's mostly an issue while the tractor is parked and off, you can get past it safely at least...
