Tractor
Massey 1710 / 1758, Ventrac 4500Y / TD9
I like my Massey 1758 tractor. But I have to nominate how to change the dashboard display from Km/Hr to Miles per Hour as one of the most user UNFRIENDLY things I've seen on a tractor.

Here are the steps to changes from Km/Hr to Miles per Hour on my 1758:

1) Turn ignition key off and leave it off for at least 1 minute.
2) Remove the fuse cover below the steering wheel. Remove the 5 amp bottom right hand side fuse.
3) Turn the ignition key switch on but do not start the engine.
4) Press the "Display Select Switch" on the dash one time.
5) Begin pressing this same switch enough times until you see "Unit Set" on the display.
6) Long press the "Display Select switch" for 2 seconds until you hear the Buzzer go off and release.
7) Wait about 2 seconds for the Display to say "Unit Set"
8) Turn the ignition switch off.
9) Re-install the fuse.

Presto! In just 9 easy steps (plus a fuse pull) it now reads miles per hour instead of Km/hr.

Does your tractor have something you would also consider to be user unfriendly?

Well I really don't like where the dash mounted throttle is on my tractor. I've considered moving it to beside the seat Where John Deere should have put it. My problem is relatively minor compared to changing units on your tractor. ( Said with a grin on my face. )

Completing tractor/implement PTO connection.

Cup holder is too large diameter so a water bottle not held snugly. Also too shallow so water bottle bounces out.

Oh also open station and no ac for these 100 degree days.

Kubota not spending the huge sums it would have taken to put a grab handle on the right fender. They sell them and the mount holes are there, you just have to order in one for $80 or whatever it is. Cheapening out on a handle on a thousands of dollar tractor. It's like not putting an armrest in a car but you can buy one as an addon.

There, now I feel better.

I have grab handles just above each fender, but an extra grab handle near the dash would keep me from grabbing the steering wheel. There's plenty of room for one.

Also, NO PLACE TO PUT A CELL PHONE.

Also, all tractors should come with, or have as an option, a toolbox, or at least a handy mount for one.

(Otherwise love it. :) )

Don't know if this fits, but on my Kubota the split breaks and the floor peddle are on the same side, my right foot can't be in two places at the same time. How is this supposed to work ?

It's a B2920..

You know, I was wondering about that. Not being a salty veteran with tractors, I haven't had a reason to use just one side of the brakes but thought to myself that'd be pretty hard to do even if I wanted to. Maybe you're supposed to ride side saddle in those situations

I know, unless your supposed to use the cruise control, but still...Kubota, what were you thinking ?? I should ask them..

John Deere 2030, Collar shift transmission. You have to come to a complete stop to shift gears or ranges. But it's 44 years old

Diff lock is operated by right heel. Unfortunately, your right foot is busy with hydro pedals, also on the right. Brake is all alone on the left.

The notorious grease fittings on my JD 2210!

On both the front and rear tires. The six bolts that attach the centers to the outer rim are reversed. Its a grade 8 carriage bolt with the nut on the inside of the rim. I've never taken the wheel apart - separated the center from the outer rim - but when I do my annual - "check the torque on the wheel nuts" - its a true PITA to check these six on each wheel.

It's not just kubota, My Mahindra Max 25 is the same and so are the Kioti's. Dumbest thing I ever saw. Mine has an accelerator lock so I guess you could lock it full forward and then use the brakes?? Havent tried it...too much to run into around my place...lol

Diff lock is on the right side, along with throttle pedal, hate using the hand throttle.

No clock, no boost gauge, no tool box, no cup holder, no right handle, no right step.

Why ? It is there so you can use it !! I run my L3010 in the woods in snow and ice and need to use the steering brakes and diff lock often when skidding logs. I have a manual transmission not HST. I set the hand throttle to a speed that is comfortable for any where on the entire route and at a good power point. While driving thru easy sections I use the foot throttle for more speed and over ride the slower hand throttle setting. When I need the dif lock or steering brakes my speed drops to the hand throttle setting while the right foot is busy with those other pedals. Maybe you would like doing it that way better.

I wish I had a clock also. Would be very handy.
