Talked to dealer yesterday, "never encountered anything like this before, still diagnosing". They will return it Friday so I can mow, if they haven't figured it out.

You know, after 51 posts and some tangents we went off on ... no one mentioned a nasty cause that it might have been -- no coolant in the thing ! Air won't drive the temp guage upward usually. Evidently that was not the problem since they found no voltage at the sensor. Apparently "just electrical."
They did mention not wanting to cut and splice a harness on a tractor with 30 hours on it, so approval was given for a new harness. If that doesn't fix it...........
Football season is still months away and here I am already getting started with armchair quarterbacking. Doesn’t make sense to me that the whole wiring harness needs replacing or that replacing it will fix the problem. It’s a simple two wire circuit to and from the sensor. Fixing the problem most likely will require a new dashboard printed circuit board, that’s where I think the problem is.
