End of the KOBALT Brand

Interesting..I was always a Craftsman fan and had a great set of almost everything they offered.. numerous in double or triple. ..it was almost all stolen about 7 years ago and I have been replacing it slowly with Kobalt and Husky products as the Sears. Ear me closed quite a while back. So far I'm pleased with the Kobalt and Husky stuff..( I only use them on occasion and not for my job ) I wonder what differen price points will be between the 3 brands.

I always have though that the theft of tools is one of the lowest meanest thefts there is. If you are going to rob me, take my TV, but for the love of God don't take my tools. If it is not to difficult for you, how were your tools stolen?

There’s nothing worse than a thief imo. I’d love to see them every one hung on the court house lawn. Someone stole my favorite weed eater a few weeks ago. They broke into my barn and took a battery charger, gas cans and a few old batteries, several years before that they stole everything they could carry from my garage.

Meth or opiods?

Probably the same way Sears did for me - TS
A long time ago I bought a Sears "closed back" shovel, with lifetime warranty, which was at least 3 times the cost of their low end shovel. Besides the extra strength I wanted the closed back because I was digging in really sticky clay fairly often and the closed back was easier to clean.
Cracked the handle, took it back, they had discontinued the closed back and had no replacement.
The lifetime ran out.

I had a face shield that was branded Craftsman the band kept breaking on. Had it replaced 3 times and the last time they gave me the same shield with AOSafety on it and said no more replacements. It broke in the same place as the others.

Meth or opiods?

Probably but I don’t know who it was. And by they it was all different locations so not likely the same candidates.

Here's a link to all of the current Craftsman tool warranties:
WARRANTY INFORMATION | CRAFTSMAN(R)
For the basic hand tools, the coverage is still very good. There are some items that are a little odd, for example the Tap and Die sets:
"CRAFTSMAN Hand Tool Full Warranty
If any tap wrench or die stock of this CRAFTSMAN tap and die set ever fails to provide complete satisfaction, it will be replaced free of charge. This warranty does not cover taps, dies, screw extractors, or other set pieces, which are expendable parts that can wear out from normal use within the warranty period." :confused3:

Had a Snap On guy tell me a tool wasn't guaranteed against wearing out once. I think it was a #2 screwdriver with a worn tip. I clamped it in a vise and smacked it with a hammer and handed it back to him. He went to the truck and got me a replacement. ;)

I’ve heard the same. The same guy said he broke a 1” drive ratchet pushing on it with a backhoe. The snap on guy gave him a new one.

I don稚 understand why 12 point are so common. I致e never even seen a bolt that wasn稚 6 point except some 4 side stuff. I致e heard 12 point bolts exist but I致e heard the same for big foot.

Caliper bolt off a late model stockcar.

Prime examples of why we all pay more for tools than than they really would have cost if it weren't for people like these. :confused3:

Said guy claims to give the snap on truck guy $50k a year. I don’t think a pile of broken screw drivers and a broken ratchet is going to hurt them.
