Life Long GM Guy....New Ford

My 2016 F150 now has over 20,000 miles on it. Zero problems - never been back to the dealer for any reason. Mine is the 3.5 Ecoboost...all my fueling goes into an Excel spreadsheet which tells me that overall since I bought the truck it has averaged 20.9 mpg. The display in the dash consistently tells me 1-2 mpg better than that.

Congrat's on the new truck! I'm leasing a '15 F150, my first Ford in about 10 years. When I made the decision to get back to a full size PU, I drove all the contenders, as I'm not brand loyal. I will admit, I drove the 2.7 model, fully expecting it to be a joke. Holy Cr@p! I was blown away by the performance coming from that tiny engine. The rest of the truck pretty much won me over as well. Fast forward to today, just turned 42K miles, been completely trouble free. Averaging around 21 mpg, 15-16 pulling by BX on a tandem flatbed. It's an amazing truck, more quiet than most cars. Pretty sure I'll be leasing another later this spring, but I do want to drive the new '19 RAM, to see how much they've improved. But overall, this truck has way exceeded my expectations. Hope your's does as well!

I thought I would give a 10,000mi update on the truck. I have been getting around 18mpg mixed driving going to work everyday. I have seen a touch over 22mpg on a highway trip. I have only towed maybe 5K with it. No challenge there for sure.

I did have to take the truck to the shop. It had a recall on the shifter cable and I had the passenger door lock to fail. This was all taken care of in one trip. The dealership had to keep it overnight since they didn't have the part in stock for the door. They made the repairs promptly and were exceptionally courteous.

To summarize, 8 months into it and I would defiantly buy it again and recommend one to others.

In the past I have had 2 F150's, one was a 2007, the other was a 2011. I was thoroughly impressed with both. Last year I was needing something a little bigger so I traded off the second F150 for a F250 with the diesel engine. I have just under 19k miles on it and am thoroughly impressed with it also.

When I bought it the service guy said I would see a big jump in mpg between 15k to 20k miles. Last weekend I took it on a 250 mile trip, it averaged 19.8 mpg. A couple nights ago I put a K&N air filter in it, the mileage is now 20.8. I would have never expected that good of mileage out of something with that kind of power and weight.

You need to chime into the "Diesel vs Gas" debate ongoing. :)

Glad you're enjoying your new truck!

Here's my new lease, just clicked over 3K miles:

Ended up back in an F150. I did drive a new '19 RAM, and it was a nice improvement from the '18, but I still preferred the F150. Also drove the 3.5EB & 5.0, still prefer the 2.7. Just feels so much more responsive in day-to-day driving, and the fuel economy with the 10AT has been even better than my '15. Current tank is running at 25.3, and got 18 on a recent trip to the camp with my BX in tow (about 5K in trailer & gear). Just amazing. And the power is awesome, even better with the 10AT. The '18 is also up 25 lb/ft to 400. Took a buddy for a ride the other day, didn't tell him what engine it had. After a good romp, he thought the "big V8" had awesome power. Should've seen his face when I told him it was a 2.7L V6.

That '15 was a great truck, and this one is even better. We'll see what the competition has in '21, when this lease is up. But for now, the F150 really rocks it.

I have a 2005 F-150 with 55K miles on it. I checked out an exact same model, same feature on a 2018 F-150. Ha, ha, ha, ha - I'll be driving my 2005 F -150 until the day I die - even if its 25 years from now. Cold day in H E L L when I pay that much for a vehicle. My 2005 will either last until I croak or I will walk.

Nice truck, been driving Ford Super duty for 30 years, I also have a new Taurus SHO for long trips, love them both. The 5.0 is great engine, the ten speed is a collaboration between GM and Ford so you still have a little GM engineering included in your new truck.. Good luck..

5.4 was a weak junk motor, the new 5.0 and ecoboost are a totally different animal..
