Beautiful!

Thanks, when looking for a place to build we loved this area, but nothing was for sale. Even the place we bought was not listed. The realtor knew the owner and heard him say he might sell at one point. The owner was contacted and low and behold we worked out a deal.

I expect the footings and foundation to go in this week. I'll keep the pictures updated as we go.

The guy digging said it was great. He is used to sidehills and huge rocks. I should have gotten a discount.

Lynn, I read through this thread over the weekend. Congrats on your retirement and exciting endeavors going forward. Sounds like you will have an interesting next several months.

I am curious about the haying component of the operation. I know you are experienced at haying from your previous life in Utah. Do you plan on having livestock, selling your hay or both? If you are growing mostly to sell, do you expect it to be a relatively profitable endeavor. I know there are lots of variables that contribute to that bottom line, so not looking for specifics, just a general idea of your thought process with respect to the hay.

Thank you Jerry,

Most likely I'll raise a few cows and sell what hay I don't need. I want a hobby to keep me busy, but not so busy I can't go on a vacation or two per year.:D

My brother lives close by and could watch over things while I'm out of town.

Good luck with everything. I'll be following your progress.

By the way, the wife and I passed through your area of Idaho a few years ago. We flew into Salt Lake City and drove up to Jackson Hole. I envy you, beautiful part of the country. Lots of raspberries grown in the Bear Lake area. We stopped in a town in that area and had a raspberry milkshake. Delicious. Gonna do that again some day.

Sounds like Garden City, Utah. They have "Raspberry days" every year. Good shakes and crowded all summer.

Thanks Eddie,

Now my wife and I can stand where the great room will be and visualize the view from inside the house. Although we'll be several feet higher.:)
