Been to Branson once, liked it.

At least your honest about it.

I read a story on this tragedy and one of the locals from Branson stated that they love their tourists. Thought to myself they don't love their tourists, but the money the tourists brought with them.

I don't know... when we go through the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, we tend to go off-season. Fewer shops are open, the ones that are tend to be the people that live there. They are truly friendly. I think besides your money, they like to meet people from all over the U.S. and the world.

When I worked in I.T. I always struck up a conversation with people at tech support all over the world. Kinda interesting to hear what life is like somewhere else.

Things are the SAME everywhere now. Home Depot, Payless Shoes and Mac Donalds.

That's like the coast up and down Oregon and Washington. Summertime lots of tourist, off season is a great time to visit, the further south you go, the more you find the type of California tourist that give Californians a bad rap. Women was arguing with owner of restaurant, that she should get the lunch special, two hours after lunch was over, claimed to be a "local". I noticed the car she had arrived in had California plates. Not for sure it was her's but...

I was wrong, hadn't been 20 years since to that area, more like 30 years (lived in Bethlehem and worked in Allentown). My family is from Schuylkill county though, so I-78 was a regular drive. Honestly, didn't really even recognize I-78 other than the turnpike exit and some other buildings. Hopsital is St. Lukes and going west, it was the largest building on the left, and it looked like it could of been in the general area of where the brewery use to be. Had a old friend pick me up, and between talking with him and taking phone calls from work, I didn't pay very close attention.

Grew up in Monroe (The Poconos), used to be somewhat of a tourist trap via a lot of honeymoon resorts. Now as far as I am concerned it's just overloaded with people wanting out of NJ and NY. Worked in Allentown for 25 years, lived there only five though. Lived near Tamaqua for ten then moved to KY.

Anyway, as far as the duckboat business, I agree, they should not have gone out. I went out on a whale watch once when the water was so rough, the company almost called off the trip. I kept my life jacket on the whole time. Some did, some did not. Water was rough, saw lot's of whales, did not get sick (for once). Big difference though between a WWII troop carrier and a 110 foot boat made the job.

And never forget Taco Bell. There was some movie where they were in the future and were going to lunch. There was some discussion and the comment "Every Restaurant is a Taco Bell".

Ta Mah Quah NOT Tam Ah Quah :D

When I first got to this part of NC, I always pronounced Moganton NC as "Morgan Town" because I use to live in a small town off 68 by Morgantown WV. Now, years later, when I talk to my buddies in WV, I pronounce Morgantown WV as "Morgan Ton" LOL

I saw that.

My line of thinking is it's all on the captain, but I could be wrong. The timefram however leads me to believe he should of known a bad storm was coming as well as the white swells forming on the lake 5 minutes after going out.

The question then becomes what what the company's procedures when bad weather was coming?

My added line of thinking is that the company can't blame it all on the captain.
