Hope you had a raspberry shake for me during raspberry days. Had one the last time I passed through your neck of the woods. Yum

Will be up your way in September, Jackson Hole for vacation.

I love raspberry shakes and raspberry ice cream. The best !!! Raspberries grow like weeds up here. Yum!

Should have a height of 4'5". Certainly enough if I had to get down there for something.

That height, and the concrete is a luxury compared to most crawls!! Will it be an encapsulated/conditioned crawl? Didn't see vents so I assume so.

The one at my old house was 2', not well sealed, and had plastic on the floor. Vented to the outside and we have humid air 9 months out of the year. Real nasty place.

The encapsulated/conditioned crawl on our new house is 7' high on one corner, enough to have a regular entry door, and there's a 12x12' slab in that corner where we have the well tank, water heater, water softener, and bleach injection system. I also have some shelves down there to hold crap. Then from that corner it gradually tapers to about 2' in the opposite corner. Even with the sloping grade, I store all sorts of crap down there -- it's like a warehouse for me.

Id frame up 4' before adding the first floor, and make it a basement.

Yes, it will be a insulated heated/cooled space.

I'm sure we'll store stuff down there although I'd like to just get rid of stuff we are not using.:)

That's a good idea, however, I'm trying to avoid stairs. We are not getting any younger.

I went with a one level for that reason. I wasn’t interested in the costs of an elevator or the appearance of those chairs that run up alongside the handrail.

My next house will be one level, on a basement.

Basements are not counted as a story, at least not here. Many 1 story houses have basements.
