Montgomery Ward - GREAT prices!

We got our first replacement dishwasher from Monkey Wards around 1992. They said free installation, and removal of the old unit. I came home, and the new one was installed and the old one was siting in the middle of my kitchen. I called and they said they removed it from the hole where it was installed! :laughing:

Thinking back on it, I recall dragging the old one out of the house, picking it up, throwing it in the back of my pickup truck, driving to Monkey Wards, shoving it out of the truck bed in front of their service door and driving away. :laughing:

I also recall standing it upright before driving away, just so it wouldn't look like littering.

I had a pretty quick temper back then. I've mellowed considerably due to good wife and trying to be good example for our kids. But it was very satisfying making that delivery. :thumbsup:

I hear ya. Sometimes I come across something that I put up in the attic or on a high shelf and now I wonder how the heck I did that by myself. Of course now I stop and think it through and get the same results with less muscle.

I cannot seem to recall where Monkey Wards was in Seattle but here is the old Seattle Store which is now Starbucks headquarters. They also did some of the catalogs here.

Built in 1925, the eight-story tall Montgomery Ward Warehouse and Retail Store is one of nine monumental distribution centers built by the Montgomery Ward mail order company in cities around the United States. Founded by Aaron Montgomery Ward in Chicago, Illinois in 1872, the store sent catalogs (sometimes known as the “Wish Book”) listing thousands of items, from clothing to tractors, to rural communities around the country. Montgomery Ward located its Atlantic Coast Headquarters in Baltimore largely due to the efforts of the city government and the Industrial Bureau of the Association of Commerce to attract new businesses—an early example of a public economic development program.

For nearly 60 years, Montgomery Ward was a major business in Baltimore. It employed thousands of people, sent out hundreds of thousands of catalogs emblazoned with the name Baltimore to customers throughout the eastern seaboard, and provided a unique retail option to generations of local residents.
