Kyle, quite a while ago my Internist prescribed Triamclnolone Acetonide cream 0.1% for a pretty bad case of poison oak, and I asked him for a 90 day supply. I'm still using it, and it works pretty well. I use one of those natural sponges, the long, tubular ones, to scrub with a gentle soap (I like Neutrogena Rainbath) under as hot a water as I can stand. Pat dry and use that towel only for the areas effected by the rash. Put the cream on, thick enough to cover it white, and keep rubbing until it disappears into the skin. Then I wash my hands and go through the day more or less comfortably. I run through the cleansing morning and night, and sleep in long sleeves or tights to keep the stuff from spreading via the sheets. Takes me about a month for my skin to exfoliate all of the oil out (that's the only way you can get rid of it). I can't think of one reason why poison plants evolved urushiol, since it offers no immediate protection and most animals aren't sensitive to it, but there it is anyway.
I learned the same lesson about pulling from an angle with the tractor, even if it was just the end of the bucket or box blade. That's how I learned to do things s-l-o-w-l-y so I had time to react if/when things went sideways/up-in-the-air.

And I've got one of those grub chains hanging in the garage, and the paint is all faded to a pale greenish yellow. I've used it once or twice, but end up just using a log chain with hooks on each end most of the time because they're longer and hold on almost as well. And they're a heck of a lot easier to take off. But there have been times where the log chain just wouldn't stay put, and it's grubber to the rescue...
Those are nice looking boots, Don, but if I got a pair of dancing boots it would have to have two lefts in it.
CalFire released their
analysis of the deaths related to the Carr Fire in and near Redding, CA yesterday. It contains minute-by-minute event chains that led to each incident, and links to videos showing the horrifying fire tornado. Hard to imagine what those men went through. He11 on earth.
Are you all sitting down? I drove my van yesterday! Not far, but in traffic far enough to get a tank of gas and get back to the mechanic's shop. It goes, shifts and stops, it steers straight, turns easily, and visibility is outstanding. I'm very rusty on the standard transmission, but I didn't grind any gears or even have trouble finding the one I wanted. The throttle cable was misadjusted causing a high idle, and air in the cooling system had it running hot, but I don't think it'll be long before it'll be sitting in the driveway. Took two and a half hours at the DMV before that to pay the registration and get a temporary sticker, but now there's no more excuses not to get it in for the smog check. I'm going down there this morning to hook the instrument cluster back up and trouble shoot the non-working temperature and fuel gauges (they were working previously, and once again, nobody seems to know what happened

ullinghair: Paid off the helper with a case of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for staying long enough to get it running, and if I have to, I'll be down there every day next week until is't smogged. Then the real fun begins with doing the interior...
Stopped by the mechanic's one time partner, who has now set up a shop and has hired all the same guys fired by the mechanic. It was after closing time, but his weldor, who I hadn't met and never worked for the mechanic, was getting ready to put a pop top he'd cut off another van onto one that didn't have one, the same job I did a couple years ago on my van. He'd made a few mistakes that can be fixed with some work and grinding, but not a bad job for first time around. But the most striking thing is that all of the tools were neatly put away, there were no parts or tools scattered all over the floor to trip over, and everything was CLEAN! And I know that the mechanic's aware of it, because his one and only drive in my van went to that shop. He just doesn't get how to properly manage a business or people. The former partner was thinking about hiring the mechanic (he really is smart), but I told him I just didn't know how that could ever work. Just glad to be getting my van out of that situation and put that whole episode behind me.
TGIF gang!:drink:
