69 going to 93, no shower here until Thursday or Friday.

BEF, hope your doing better. A visor is a funny place for an air bag :).

No puppy today! Coco is so much more relaxed now (so are we). She tolerated but never really took to the rambunctious Brittany.

Opinion: College is still a useful path for many, adding great value...we all want our doctors and bridge designers to be highly educated, for instance. But most colleges have priced themselves out of any real supply and demand market...All due to irresponsible spending for silly and wasteful programs, inefficiency, lack of a focused mission, and scope creep. It makes me so sad to have watched this through the years. Only tax supported government subsidies, much in the form of student loans, keeps the industry afloat. There are still some fiscally responsible colleges out there, though, and some bright leaders that may turn things around.

Broke the mower belt on my old lawn mower Saturday when I ran over an old rubber frisbee that jammed the blades. I've decided not to put much money into it, since it is clearly dying, but I had a spare belt. Took the deck off yesterday, scraped and cleaned it, took the blades off and sharpened them, and then ran out of daylight before ever getting to the mower belt...talk about scope creep. Will finish up today. It was the first time I've used a ratchet wrench to take the 6 blade bolts off. Man, I never knew what I was missing.

Don, was the WVB is someone's backyard?

Hope the smoke is less today for you guys out west.

RNG, sorry, you asked a while back what was in the wooden box in my box of tooling. It is a Starrett #3 Micrometer. Has the wrenches, paper work and a brass/copper shaft a little over 1" long. don't know what that is. Ed

Drinking first cup of coffee. 69° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 90° with partly cloudy. Going to a Birthday luncheon for wife's cousin on east side of town. Should be a interesting drive. Freeway to that side of town has lanes closed going east and west bound is fully closed. :confused2:

Still using FB Marketplace. Picked up some very nice chairs/stools for Kitchen Island yesterday.

Good Morning All.

Good morning! 70-100 mostly sunny.
A couple of fitness classes today.
Now I’m on the front porch airing out the cat. Gray 2 is very good outside now without a leash and just enjoys laying by us outside watching dog walkers, joggers and golf carts.

74° this morning with forecast for only 96° this afternoon. That’s about 5° that what we’ve had last couple of weeks. Still not being troubled with rain. Did get a “mist” yesterday for about 30 seconds.

The only silver lining in this drought is that I’ve been spraying aquatic weeds around edges of both tanks for past 4-5 months. I’ve sprayed areas in stages to preclude overloading tanks with decomposing matter and over absorption of oxygen. Small tank is full of catfish and large tank has bass.

As the water levels have gone down (about 18” so far) I’ve been able to mow a lot of the dead stuff, mostly sedges, and keep cuttings out of the water, thus hopefully precluding / reducing oxygen starvation.

This all started as a project, back in the spring, to eliminate lilypads in the small tank that magically showed up two years ago. No clue where they came from?

These pictures are from back in May over a two week period. Lily pads are completely gone as is most of the sedge. I’ll post updated pics tomorrow.

If the micrometer has a measuring range of 1"-2", that shaft may be a calibration standard. I was hoping you'd find a precision measuring instrument in that box; that's how they used to come from the factories.

It is 45° this morning, yesterday was sunny with the high in the low 80's and a lot wind. It looks like a cold front is coming through, they show the high for today at 70°. It is also bringing some of the smoke from the fires with it.

My wife has Dr. appointment today in Park City Ut. She is doing better but still has a lot of therapy still to do. If we stop and do some shopping it will be a all day trip.

Hope everyone as a great start to the week.

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 6:30AM. Mainly sunny. High 81F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Another smoky morning, in spite of the promising forecast. Temps are down, though, so that's got to be good enough for now.

Finished welding on the saddle bag mounts, then blasted all the old powder coat off the parts in preparation for painting. Today I'll clean up the epoxy sealant I used to close off some of the openings, and if the wind and temperatures cooperate, I'll get everything painted.

But before all that, the hummers are reminding me they need a new batch of nectar mixed up.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!
