3-Point Hitch 1/4 inching valve not a 1/4 inching valve?

I love the up and down buttons on our JD 6200 and the electronic max height control, but accurate position through the electronic lever is difficult.

TripleR-thanks for digging that post up!

A good read for sure!

You are more than welcome, Chuck passed away a few years ago and was a heck of a guy; always willing to help.

Yes. Thanks for that.
Is there a way to delete this thread and it's content?
Apparently there's nothing of value in it as it was said before by a far better man.
I really don't need it as a permanent reminder that I have no value here.

Please don't think that, it will continue to come up, it had been discussed many times before Chuck and will again. Much of what I know about these things, I've learned from more knowledgeable TBN members. Chuck worked for Ruger Firearms; helped development and finally figuring out how his system worked was a Eureka moment. Heck I didn't know how it worked when I bought mine either.

I lean toward agreement with TripleR. "Please don't think that." But the more times I read what you said the less sure I am of what you intended. Are you expressing irritation? Sarcasm ? Or is it a feeling of futility or lack of contribution ? Just not at all sure what you meant. English has always been a frail and sometimes fragile way to communicate (especially if you are not a pro writer as almost none of us are.) Just not sure what you really meant.

Well I found this thread, but no other, so in my opinion, it is of great value.

I never got the 3-point inching/control thing either. Of the few dozen I've used over the last 50 years I've been driving tractors, they've all been raise it or lower it, with no real fine tuning. But then, I'm old.

I'm thinking that a 3ph was probably never meant for accurate adjustment. You raise the implement at the headland, make your turn and lower it. I have never seen one that is accurately adjustable. Worse, there is often delay it seems so you have already moved the lever too much. Not saying I would support even more complexity and cost, but if the 3ph had electronic position reading, you could do some neat things.

A position control 3pt is made for the sole purpose of accurate position. It is mechanically controlled and works flawlessly in repeating situations. I set the lowering stop on the lever and exactly repeat the lowered cutting height of my 3pt brush cutter.

1/4 inch valving can be used for precise height adjustment. It's much more difficult than position control. And it's even more difficult to duplicate the desired position.
