rear grease seal removal

Yes. I'd take a hub with you to auto parts store. I've seen people glue the seals in which I bet why it was so hard to get out.

Very seldom is the rear seal re-usable any time they are removed. I just don't want to chance water and grit passing the seal into the hub.
Also if the bearings have been in there for years with plenty of miles, I replace them and the races.
This is not something you want to have to deal with on the side of the road. I've seen old bearings repacked, fail quickly within just a few miles after being installed.
It's not a lot of money for all new seals bearings and races.

Ya, I always get new seals if I'm pulling things apart for maintnance. They are cheaper than my time to be gentile removing the old ones.

I tend to replace the bearings & races on new to me trailers, but just inspect & re-pack the bearings every so often. I really should do that more often, but have yet to have a failure. Bearings are reasonably cheap, but not quite disposable cheap like the seals. If the races/bearings aren't worn with groves, pits or anything they are extremely unlikely to go bad if repacked with grease, protected by fresh seals & generally reassembled correctly.

I know the make of all my trailers & axles. They are also dead standard Dexter axles. Parts are readily avalible & cheap. I dont ever remember the part numbers or sizes, but that's what a quick Google is for knowing the axle make & size.
