'Death is not the worst of all evils'

I am para pelagic from a motorcycle accident 45 years ago, I worked from a wheelchair as a electrical engineer for 25 years and am completely independent. It depends on attitude and whether or not you have it in you to move forward, I made hand controls for my tractors so I can use them, I do more than most able bodied people do, I don’t fear anything anymore..

And yet I see so many fully mobile people doing nothing, complaining about frivolous crap.

You are the type of person I look up to.

Thank you, people take things for granted until something happens..

Had a buddy here in Maine fall off of his roof shoveling snow, he broke his neck, really tough guy, Maine master guide, was a bush pilot and had his own float planes, I helped him through the tough times, I left to go back to MA one day and before I got home he had taken his own life, it was very sad for me to see him give up but some people just can't deal with it and I do understand..

Just saw that in a signature. That's been my philosophy for as long as I can remember. I've been nearly fully self reliant for most of my adult life (no reason to go into detail). My greatest fear above all others is some sort of debilitating condition that eliminates that independence. I cannot imagine being in a state where I needed someone to help with daily and personal tasks. I would far rather be gone than be in that state of need.

It comes to most of us eventually however .....

There is a way to take control of your life called Secobarbital. Availability depends of doctor and/or state.

My hand control setup and me doing things any other person does, just takes a little longer that's all.. Maybe someone will be searching for something someday and see these posts and get inspired and maybe change there life for the better.. I think that would be pretty **** cool..

It just amazes me how some people cling to life more than others. Some people enjoy waking up up embracing another day. Not me. It all just seems like so much bother. Even getting dressed, and I have (in the past) been unable to do so, so I know the difference.

Anyway, I am off to a Doctor's appointment to have some cancer issue checked. Definitely, not the way I would chose to die. Cancer, that is.

Those photos are inspirational, atsah! You can wallow in self pity and despair or simply make the best or better of a situation, which you have certainly done!

A good friend just got the news, Lymphatic cancer.
I wonder which is worse. that or dementia? ...

Cancer is a horrible, horrible, horrible illness. I have seen what cancer does to people. Some die. Some survive. Surviving can come at great cost. Lympatic cancer would either kill me or I might survive whatever survive means.

There is no escape from dementia. I have seen too much suffering from dementia, both the patient and the family greatly suffer.

No way would I pick dementia.

I have read of a guy who is sailing around the world by himself. He only has one leg and one arm.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Later,
