I am sure this has been covered already, but search did not reveal any useful info for my tractor. XR4145C. Looking to remove the very annoying beeper for the parking brake.

Details: When parking, I always drop the implements and set the brake. No issue there. When I shut off the tractor, the beeper tells me (on rare occasions) that I forgot to set it. This is the only time I would prefer to have the beeper enabled. Though, I am not too concerned about the tractor rolling as the bucket is down at an angle and the rear implement is down, and I usually park on flat level surface.
What is annoying is when the beeper starts beeping when I have the brake set and put the tractor into gear. I typically have my foot on the clutch, brakes, put it into gear, THEN release the parking brake. But I ALWAYS get that annoying beeping sound. Then, if I stand up, just slightly, to see better in the front of the tractor (when doing finesse work), the **** thing start beeping due to lack of pressure on the seat. When my wife gets in, and forgets to adjust the seat (she is much lighter than I) the thing starts beeping, she gets frustrated and pissed off, and does not like to drive the tractor anymore. On top of that, I live in hill country, I use the brake peddle quite often, often times with the tractor in gear, foot on the clutch, 'free wheeling' down a hill with brake pressure and VERY annoying beeping.

Needless to say, the beeper has got to go! It hinders more than helps and is so extreme that, well, I would rather deal with warranty problems than this freaking beeping!!

I don't need lectures on how its a safety feature, etc. Every tractor I grew up with, most of which did not even have a brake, never had a beeper. I survived. All I need to know is how to disable this thing, and if possible, re-enable it (you know, for the warranty things)

Thanks in advance!

Send it to me! I wish my M59 had a warning light on the front dash about the parking brake and not off to the side where its harder to see. I'd welcome a beeper that went off if I tried driving with the brake engaged.

Oh! I forgot about the light! I do like the light on the dash. But if it needs to go, totally worth it.

Wrap the beeper with something to muffle the sound down to just barely audible.

So you want the beeper OFF anytime except when you turn the tractor off and try to walk away without the parking brake on?

I would splice the Normally Closed contact of a relay into the wire to the beeper, and connect the relay's coil to accessory power. That way, any time the tractor is running, beeper is disabled. Any time it's not running, beeper is enabled.

If you want the ability to switch this now feature on/off (like turn it off before going to the dealership), put a switch in series with the relay coil.

Thats not exactly what I was thinking, but that'll work! Now, I just gotta find it. Anyone know how to access it?

It's up under the dash, "driver's" side, top. Top left of the instrument cluster. It's a black round thing. You'll know it when you hear it. You'll need to remove the dash panel, but fear not! It's not that bad. It took me 15 min to root around and find where the noise was coming from, and less than 10 min to remove the dash, disconnect the beeper, test & confirm, and reassemble.

First you'll need to remove the two side plates which are each held on by 2 black plastic knobs. Easy.

Next remove the 6 screws holding the dash on. Two are on top, covered by plastic caps. Two are on the outsides, previously hidden by those two side covers you just removed. Two are on either side of the steering wheel, also previously covered by the panels.

Now gently pull the dash back and you'll see it right by the firewall. Follow the cord down and you'll see where it plugs in. From there you can just unplug it, or do the relay thing for extra credit.

If you want to do the relay thing, there's an unused accessory power plug right behind the fuse box about 10-12 down from where the buzzer is. If you look at my post from today about the accessory plug install, you'll see the plug I'm talking about. I used it to power my cigarette lighter outlets.

Update: I unplugged the beeper! It was very simple, as Strantor mentioned. Thank you to all!
