Can you LOOK in the manhole, turn on the pump, and see if anything comes out,, ?? :confused2:

I do see water, but it doesn't flow very fast. I think I found the issue though. I dug around where the 1 1/2" discharge line is and it comes out 1 1/2" PVC but there is a reducer that goes to 1" then to black poly pipe. So if my pump can pass 3/4" solids and it goes into a 1" pipe, it's definitely going to clog up.

They will, but I don't have a long enough snake. I did do an actual measure and the discharge line is about 225' and the rise is about 24', so that was a pretty close guess. I was about to measure the elevation difference with a rotary laser level.

I haven’t seen raw affluent pumped in anything smaller than 1 1/2”. Looks like the previous install was a real sh...t show! In more ways than one. Glad you found the issue.

Yep, that would be the restriction.
Those pumps are designed for 1.5 to 2 inch pipe.
For a 225 foot run, I would think 2 inch would be recommended.
You will need to run new pipe and make sure you install a check valve close to the pump and a gate valve after the check valve.
The gate valve is so you can service the check valve and the pump in the future.

I called the sewer authority. I am permitted to run a new line and attach it to the sewer main, they will need to inspect prior to me burying the pipe. They are sending a crew out to see how the current pipe is attached. They have been so helpful during this whole process.

Really great that you have discovered the problem and that your local sewer authority is being so helpful. Some municipalities aren't so co-operative and demand permit after permit and of course fees to pay for each permit and inspection process. Sounds like your will be all set to go in short order.

Good drawing. But for scale the pit in the photo is only about 18” deep. This puts the check valve within about 2 vertical feet of the pump. In the OP’s case the check valve etc will need to be in the pit next to the pump......I thank that’s what he’s describing anyway ;^)

What I am going to purchase is an EOne system. The township recommends that brand and I put one in at my other house that I lived in. They are a little more pricey, but they are good pumps of what I have experienced. It comes already assembled, no floats, it's all electronic switches which I prefer. 2 year warranty. The other thing I like is once I install it, the coming that is selling it to me will come onsite, verify it is installed to specs and test it at no charge.

The first picture is the manhole. You can see the 6" pipe stub out. I dug about 10' back from the manhole a found where the 6" goes to 4", then down to the 1" black poly. I still cannot believe they ran that. I got the trench dug and got the 1 1/2" line ran. Now I have to call to get it inspected. Next weekend I'll install the grinder.
:shocked: who ever though that would be ok?? At least they could have upsized the black poly. :duh: good job figuring out your dilemma.
